DG AFLPM LAUDS FIRST LADY MRS AISHA BUHARI FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT.


Seeks Increased Political and economic Empowerment of Africa women.


Princess Monica Ottah, The Director General, African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM) has luaded Her Excellency Mrs. Aisha Buhari who is the President of Africa First Ladies Mission (AFLPM) for her commitment towards the economic and political empowerment of African women in general and Nigerian women in particular.




The DG stated that Her Excellency Mrs Aisha Buhari has through her Non-governmental Organisation, Future Assured Initiative engaged in leadership development, capacity building, entrepreneurship training and financial empowerment of Nigerian women.




Princess Monica Ottah noted that there have been a number of recent measures to increase the economic and Political participation of women in leadership at all decision-making levels in national, regional and international institutions, as well as during formal peace
negotiations processes.




She observed that measures have been
undertaken by African regional organisations to ensure increased gender parity within their organisations.




She emphasised on the need for heads of organisations across the African Continent to Implement both the AU’s 2005 Protocol of the African Charter on Human
and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa, and the 2004 Heads of State Solemn Declaration on Gender
Equality in Africa which seeks to improve women participation in decision making.



Princess Monica Ottah assured that measures will be put in place to reach out to all African nations as well as captains of industry and public-spirited individuals across the continent, who believe in the development and empowerment of women for colloboration and synergy for the overall good of the African women.
