1. Missing lectures:
Lectures in most Nigerian Universities aren’t a walk in the park, so many students prefer to “stab these classes” instead of having to stand for 1hr or wrestle hundreds of their colleagues for bus or seat space. But for students who love to fail, only need to attend classes once or twice in the entire semester and they will definitely fail. It’s amazing when they attend exams & the course lecturer asks “are you a student of this course? I have never seen you before”

2. Overwhelm yourself with things that don’t matter:
Many students that fail in school fail because of many reasons, but being overwhelmed tops each of their lists. You find the average student prioritising the wrong things about the primary reason for their getting an education in the first place, you see school politics, socialising, religion & relationships? All these should be secondary. Your first & major aim should be “BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS.

3. Not reading your books:
Yup! Did you think I’ll miss this one out? If you want to fail in life, within and outside the university, all you have to do is stop reading! When the new semester/session starts, they don’t study at all! The only school activity they do is join their department WhatsApp group, print their course forms & live their best lives. Then when the test timetable comes out, they don’t read either, it’s way too early to read as far as they are concerned. The official reading starts 2 hours before the exam period after the scholar of the department has decided to release his note to them for 30 mins to scan through. I can guarantee you that failure is sure for them.
