The 2021 AFCON in Cameroon has shown it's no respecter of records and reputation, with the recent shocking upset caused by minnows teams and the determinations shown so far by teams like Sierra Leone, Equatorial Guinea, and Comoros.

There have been some dazzling performers at this year's Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, while some have also failed to hit the ground running so far in the group stages.

2021 AFCON Group Stage Worst Eleven

Mohamed El-Shennawy - (Egypt)

The Pharaoh's goalkeeper El-Shennawy is regarded as one of the best goalies on the continent, having won quite a number of titles for the most successful club on the continent Al Ahly.

His performance against the Super Eagles of Nigeria didn't come close to the kind of display we've seen him show while playing for Al Ahly either in the Egyptian league or the CAF Champions League.

Daniel Amartey - (Ghana)

The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations is no doubt the kind of competition the Black Stars will want to forget in a hurry, following their disastrous performances and defeat to Comoros Island yesterday night which dumped them out of the tournament with the star player like Daniel Amartey not able to help his team qualify to the next round.

Amartey, is one of Leicester City's most trusted players when it comes to displaying top-notch performance for his club, but unfortunately for him he couldn't bring that to the fore for the Black Stars.

Mohamed Camara - (Guinea)

Camara one of the Young Boys of Switzerland's best defenders came into the Africa Cup of Nations with a lot of expectations, having shown his quality against top-level opponents like Manchester United in the Champions League.

Though Guinea has been decent in terms of their performance, surprisingly Camara's performance isn't the kind of display the Guinea or Young Boys fans would have wished for.

Andy Yiadom - (Ghana)

Every Ghanaian fan predicted that the Reading star Yiadom will be a huge threat defensively on the pitch for his team, but unfortunately his performance totally fell flat plus the fact that the team underperformed.

The Black Stars struggled defensively and attacking-wise in the tournament, and surprisingly some of the team stars expected to bail the team out failed to live up to expectations, and as such Yiadom falls in the worst eleven of the AFCON team.

Abdoulkader Thiam - (Mauritania)

Debutant Mauritania is obviously not expected to go on and win the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, but their fans will have hope to see them showcase some level of decent performance against their opponents.

They are yet to record a point at the tournament and surprisingly some of the top players expected to lead the team have all failed to do their bit in flying colors, and one of the players that fall in our worst eleven is the US Boulogne of France Thiam.

Idrissa Gana Gueye - (Senegal)

2019 runners up Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations are one of the top teams expected to hit the ground running in Cameroon, due to the level of talents they will parade in the tournament but surprisingly they've not been able to showcase all of that in the group stage.

Gana Gueye one of the most experienced and talented players in the team plies his trade in Ligue 1 with Paris Saint Germain and looking at how he performed for his club a lot is expected of him in Cameroon but the midfielder has disappointed so far in the tournament.

Omar Marmoush - (Egypt)
