The successful conclusion of the 3-day retreat for Political Office holders and Accounting officers in Ondo State public service, has continued to attract commendations and accolades from the members of the public who believed that the platform will in no small measure add value and efficiently to the service delivery of the participants.

The 3-day retreat which was held at Mydas Hotel, Owo was designed to deliberate, rejig, synergize and familiarize the political office holders and accounting officers with the strength and weaknesses, opportunities and threats ahead as the Akeredolu led administration looks to continue its repositioning efforts in the state through the REDEEMED Agenda.

Earlier in his Keynote Address, the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, explained that the retreat was necessary to ensure that all MDAS key into the REDEEMED Agenda of the Administration; entrench the culture of One Administration; improve their revenue generation and upscale their productivity.

Governor Akeredolu, who said government can not continue to run in the usual old way, disclosed that his administration organized the 3-day retreat in Owo, so as to let the political office holders and accounting officers understand the philosophy of the government.

The 3-day retreat witnessed a major milestone as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ondo State Government and BudgIT Foundation was signed to further ensure open budget and budget credibility for better service delivery.

The MoU was facilitated by the office of the Performance and Project Monitoring Implementation Unit (PPIMU), a body which was borne out of the desire of the Ondo State Government to ensure that there is a higher level of performance monitoring and project execution within the State.

The Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu signed the MoU on behalf of the state government.

Speaking after signing the documents, Princess Oladunni Odu, disclosed that the purpose of the contract signing was to showcase the transparency of the present administration in the utilisation of public funds and service delivery to the people.

Also, the Director General of Performance and Projects Implementation and Monitoring Unit (PPIMU), Mr. Babajide Akeredolu said BudgIT Foundation is an open governance initiative to make budget transparent and accessible to the citizenry.

He said one of the primary reasons the state government is partnering the Foundation is to track the state’s budget to further ensure budget transparency and accessibility to the citizenry.

Babajide disclosed that government’s collaborate with the Foundation would further ease projects tracking and implementation for operational efficiency.

BudgIT’s Country Director, Mr. Gabriel Okeowo, reiterated BudgIT’s commitment to supporting the Ondo State Government through its fiscal transparency process.

BudgIT’s support for the state will also strengthen its monitoring and impact measurement framework through the office of the Performance and Project Monitoring Implementation Unit (PPIMU).
