Well Putin is copying Hitler’s 1930s foreign policy playbook, and still has ample time and opportunity to catch up to and exceed him.

Putin’s a smart guy, but he greatly overestimates his intelligence. Look at how he blundered into a mess and painted himself into a corner.. He ended up in a position where he can’t climb down without a major humiliation, and can’t go in without serious harm to his regime and country. He put himself in a lose-lose situation, no matter what he does.

If Putin was half as clever as he fancies himself to be, he’d be twice as clever as he actually is.

As to the comparison with Hitler, if Putin’s adventurism triggers WWIII - a conflict that could prove bloodier and more catastrophic than WWII - then he might well eclipse Hitler’s as history’s worst person..
Hitler is on a level Putin could never hope to beat. .

The man plunged an entire continent into a state of war and indirectly killed tens of millions of people...so Putin is just being a little bully..
