Now, to your question concerning my name. I'll explain and I hope you understand (you should if you're Igbo)

Back then, Okoli was our surname and it was very common. So, there was a letter which my great great grandfather should have received, but because he shared the same name with someone else, his letter was given to someone else, and that was how we came about the name, "Okoli ga ano" which means "Okoli will live long." The O was removed later on and that was how the surname came.

It's a unique surname. We don't share it with anyone.

Frankwriter, from your write up, i will say that it was the bracelet that saved her and not her mother's prayers. I mean the guy felt the power attached to it that's why he seized it and kept asking her who she was. If it's not too much information, i will like to visit the traditionalist that gave her the bracelet, so i can get mine and don't tell me it's fictional.

I'm igbo and thanks for telling me how the name came about. My family went through the same modification when my grandfather worked with the early missionaries as my village was the second community that those missionaries entered in Igboland though I'mthinking of changingit back to its originalspelling when i have my own family. That's what I'm saying, i want one and it will be greatly appreciated if you can tell me the direction so i can go get it myself. I'm serious about the bracelet.

As for the surname, i don't want to change it but i take it back to it's original igbo spelling and stop using the English version.
