I read down through this thread https:///7004790/ngige-why-it-difficult-increase and decided to create this thread.

The education flaws that we're experiencing today in Nigeria is because the government is paying little or no attention to the teachers... Infact, the lecturers have refused to take blame to the number of certificated illiterates and unemployable graduates that we have in the society today. Some graduates have been discovered to be unable to read and expressed themselves properly. Lecturers will always point fingers to the foundation.

Looking at the foundation, a teacher must be able to convert a toddler from not being able to pronounce a word into pronouncing words. And will train a child into being able to read and write. The lecturers are just there to advanced the students knowledge.

Asking this forum, who is to be paid the highest?

Teachers get inspected every time, they have little or no time to improve on their learning or advancing into higher degree of learning. Teachers get queried if a certain percentage of the students fail a subject. It is interpreted to mean that learning never took place.

Unlike the Lecturers, no inspection, they don't get queried if all the students fail a course. They have opportunities to acquire Ph.D and have sabbatical leaves to study outside the country and are paid on sabbatical leave.

Yet without the foundation, education is absolutely nothing.

Students at the university are adults... lecturers don't father them. Students at secondary schools are teenagers and teachers look after them, babysit them and if anything goes wrong, the school faces the law.

Who then should earn a better pay?

Remember that, teachers are nation builders.

Lecturers are already earning much via sorting and selling over-recycled handouts.

Wetin lecturers for Nigeria dey teach tbh ? Asides a handful of them —- the rest finish the whole course outline in 2 lectures.

Ask students to submit A4 papers in bundles —- print out an online textbook on them and sell it back with a spiral binding to students for N1,500 each.

The earlier we realize education is put in place in Nigeria to slow down the youths progress — the better.

Basic education is CRUCIAL—— tertiary?? E go be

Both. Secondary education alone cannot make you a doctor, engineer, e.t.c. What we are asking is that, the education ministry must be well funded. However, since lecturers have higher certifications, of course, they deserve more pay.

There are teachers teaching with Ph.D yet not enough pay or can't be compared to the lecturers pay...

We are saying the same thing. If you have a PhD, your pay should be commensurate to that of a PhD holder. Also, if you teach 50pupils and close by 1pm, your pay is bound to be lower than a person that teaches 300 students and closes by 4pm.
