Russia KICKED OUT of World Cup 2022 over invasion of Ukraine as Fifa and Uefa agree to ban nation from competing


RUSSIA have been KICKED OUT of the World Cup 2022 play-offs over president Vladimir Putin's decision to invade Ukraine.

Fifa have suspended Russia until further notice.

The U-turn comes after Fifa originally ruled they would allow Russia to compete under the name 'Football Union of Russia' — but with no national anthem, flag or fans.

Poland were due to play Russia in Moscow on March 24 but they refused to compete amid the conflict in their neighbouring country.

The Czech Republic and Sweden, who are also watching the events in Ukraine cautiously, have also ruled out playing the Russians.

All four nations happen to be in Path B and they fight for a place at the Qatar World Cup, which is due to take place at the end of this year.

Russia will also be barred from this summer's Women's Euros.

The finals are due to be played in England and the FA have ruled out the Lionesses from competing against Russia.


Russian club football side Spartak Moscow have also been punished for Russia's invasion of sovereign Ukraine.

The Moscow-based side - partially owned by former Russian military officer Leonid Fedun - have been kicked out of the Uefa Europa League, according to Bild.

The decision sees German side RB Leipzig automatically progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.

The World Cup is going to be played in a country with very serious human rights violations. Keeping Russia out of it because its government invaded a country sounds a bit hypocritical.
now I want them to be fair by banning USA and England next for what they did in Yemen. USA for what they did to Iraq while under the excuse of imaginary WMD being present there, France for what they did and are still doing in Africa and NATO countries for what they did in Libya but I won't be holding my breath because I know FIFA and UEFA are totally controlled by Western powers.

Some of these sanctions are dictated by the spur of the moment instead of reason and will backfire greatly when the dust settles.
