This is my personal Experience With All Night Reading a.k.a Till Day Break as an undergraduate in a Federal University in Nigeria.

When I got into the university, I had this unforgettable experience. Every night, I saw a few groups of students going to read. They would leave their hostels around 9pm and return by 6am to prepare for lectures.

We all admired them. As they walked back to the hostels every morning, people would shout ‘Genius!’ ‘Brain!’ ‘Your head is so hot, it’s on fire!” One day, I decided to join them.

That night, with my bag full of books, I walked to the largest hall used for overnight reading. I moved quietly to avoid disturbing the students reading inside. But when I entered the hall, my jaw dropped!

Many students were fast asleep. Some even brought mattresses and pillows along and slept until morning! Others were watching movies, conversing loudly and playing video games. I was somewhat disappointed!

I just walked quietly to a desk in the corner, lay down, used my bag as a pillow and slept off. The next morning, as I walked back to my hostel looking tired, what were people saying to me? ‘Genius!’ ‘Brain!’ ‘Your head is on fire!’ For Sleep I sleep.

Sometimes, imitation can lead to limitation. What works best for someone else may not work for you. Investigate before you emulate. Learn from others but discover yourself and build your own way of life.

The best formula that worked for me was go for night reading between 8pm to 11:30 or 12am, go back to hostel to sleep till 4:30am then go back to read till 7am before going to prepare for lectures. It worked like charm for me.

Most people that read TDB end up sleeping through the night.

For your information, some of the people who cluster the night reading halls are students who may not have accommodation. Non students also come there to sleep. Everyone is not here to read.

The lost energy used to trek from hostel to Reading class is a factor responsible .

It works for few doesn't work for most.

You can see some 2-1 candidate (3 pointers) that survived going to night class but you will hardly see a first class going to night class ,worst worst, they make their room as conducive as they can be for reading .

Not everybody like going to night class to study tho. During my period in uni, when exam comes up, i prefer going to night class and study because i will hardly fall into deep sleep than when i read at home. Again, seeing other people reading within the vicinity and my desire to maintain good 'CGPA' will ginger me into doing the needful.

Mennhhh... remembering school days back then..hmmmmm
I thank God for everything..it wasn't easy smiley
Well my formula was take my bath and eat by 7pm, start studying 7:30 to 10pm, sleep and wake up at 12am and study again down to 3:30am, sleep to 6am, wake up, prepare and treck down to the library for some brainstorming and stroll straight from the library to the exam hallgrin

Menhh...am proud of myself..it was worth it..

I have never done over night jacking before. I guess what really matters is knowing what works for you.

Meanwhile, we are available for almost all your writing needs.

This is not true. I have several first class students that do go to night class though they usually come back to their room to sleep. They don’t do TDB. I only knew of one that do TDB then

What i experienced was different. Students who lived in hostels used the TDB as a means of meeting with their lovers in a field behind the hall. I stopped going after my 100lv and learnt what worked for me.
