Accidental Death. by highoctane: 7:40am On Mar 09, 2022
Please any Igala,Tiv,or Idoma in this thread should honestly answer.
My co in-law son accidentally hit an assumed Benue or Igala lady with his car that resulted in her death at Lagos and he willingly reported himself to the police and was promptly detained, also helped in the remains of the lady appropriately deposited in the mortuary.
Our concerns are in some culture, the dead lady been unmarried will be caused to be married by the person who caused her death, is this applicable to Tiv, Igala, Idoma culture?

We and they family had peacefully settled the issue. The police played a significant role in having the matter settled. Manslaughter is a baillable offence, and the dead victim family quickly recognized that we re not push over, neither are they bullied that they cannot do anything.
We came as a family that have great value on human life as Jehovah's witnesses and could understand their deep pain, and the guilt conscience our son will carry, though now he is undergoing psychiatric care.
We agreed to cater for all the burial expenses as the family demanded.
Our family agreed to pay her mother, her one year salary as comfort, quarterly starting from March to her mother this was out of the ears of other family members because she was a widow and has been remitted.
She was buried on the 18th March 2022.
Note: This may not turn out same way for other people. Neither will you expect any other Jehovah's witness to do as we did, but they will always be on the side of peace because we highly regard any human life as sacred irrespective of tribe, nation or color.
