The Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ewu-Owa, Gberigbe in Ikorodu, Lagos, Rev. Fr. James Anelu, has been reinstated.

Mr Anelu was suspended by the church in February over social media reports that he banned Igbo songs in his parish during mass.

In a press statement by Rev. Fr. Anthony Godonu, the Lagos Archdiocese director of social communications, the Church announced that the social media video clip did not capture all that transpired warranting the priest to react by banning Igbo songs.

The statement added that the priest has been reinstated to remedy the situation.

Social media dragging is mostly sentimental, not factual. Majority does not care about facts and logic on social media. If you ask a critical question or apply a careful logic to a trending issue, you will be highly castigated.

But let him learn his lesson.

No one is beyond mistake

To forgive is divine, thank the church for forgiving him, I hope the parishioners will forgive him also.

Everyone is saying hope he has learnt his lesson. But from the way I see it, it's the church that suspended him in the first place that needs to learn it's lesson.

If the social media reports didn't capture the true picture of the situation as they say, then it indirectly means that the church acted in haste, based on public sentiments, to suspend him. They should listen more to the Holy Spirit they claim to serve, not pubic opinion.

they suppose to transfer the priest to a new parish. parish people go de look am with one eye. If na true he did that him suppose apologize to the igbos. even gospel music, if you no add igbo song to your music, e no go sell. Igbo has all the melody to praise God that is why igbo music de go far for church.

Why was he banned in the first place?

He is the priest for God's sake and should be given leverage to take decisions on some little things.

Why will you be playing disjointed and irritating music in Holy places?

What happened to music from good Gospel artistes like Tope Alabi and Lara George?

Nonsense and ingredients. angry

Banning song in any language is bad enough. We learnt worship songs in Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba languages, it was fun. Thank God all ended well.

This is one more reason to regulate the (un)social media.
I knew it just does not add up to suspend him on the account of a short video clip.

I am sure that the evil his enemies planned against him failed at last and to the glory of God ended up lifting him up.

Now that he has been reinstigated,I urge him to remain true to his calling and enforce discipline among his folk as he will give account someday for how he led his flock.
All the enemies of Nigeria will lose las las. They always lose. God bless Nigeria for ever.
