But what happens in times of war/battle? Is God on one side against another? It is virtually the same answer for every competitive endeavour of man, GOD IS NOT THERE.
We have christians in my school blue house, there are also christians in my school white house. Who is God supporting in our interhouse competition?
We have christians in my school STEM team, and you also have in your school STEM team. Who is God supporting at the Cowbell STEM competition?
My state/church has a football team and your state/church has a football team. Who is God siding in the national interstate competition?
My country has a relay team full of christians and your countey has a relay team full of christians too. Wow, We both print Jesus T-shirts even for the finals celebration. Who is Jesus siding in the Olympics?

This issues play out in myriads of situations. God is not partial. Imagine with an athlete was helped by the Umpire or by an enhancing drug. Most people will say that was cheating and unfair. But the same people think that God would cheat and give an unfair advantage. No, sorry, He doesn't play our little games.

Nonetheless, after i think the point has been well established, i need to add that there is the place of divine intervention. God is Sovereign. He may sometimes step in for a reason or the other. He might have mercy, He might resist the proud, He might answer a prayer, different reasons. On warfronts, we have heard several testimonies of divine protection due to some old mother's prayer somewhere for her soldier son. God can even show a boastful Nebuchadnezzarlike sportman that they race is not always for the swift.

So these supernatural interventions do sometimes happen and are not to be ruled out. But they are not a CONSTANT C as it were. God is not on Russia's side or on Ukraine's side. He's hardly ever on Nigeria's side contrary to many people's opinions and expectations in sports .
