According to recent research by the World Health Organization, the animal origin route is the most logical, but evidence is still years away. "Lab leak" theories of Covid-19 range from accidental to intentional and even state-funded, but there is currently no clear evidence that any of these steps have occurred. Even with these events, the virus still originated in animals. Comments about malicious weaponization of viruses are easy to state, but difficult to verify without a whistleblower or similarly dramatic evidence. Furthermore, it is impractical to use Covid-19 as a biological weapon.
