A witness and nurse from Dowen College has told the Coroner that the late Sylvester Oromoni wasn't injured while playing football. This clearly contradicts the story from the school and now begs the question: If he wasn't injured playing football, how did the injury and wound that resulted in sepsis come about?

There is really more to this story than what is being presented in the media.

The Lagos Coroner heard yesterday that the late Sylvester Oromoni jnr was not injured while playing football.

Rather, the deceased was said to have developed muscle pull when he wanted to pick his bible that fell from the bed.

A house parent of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, Nurse Omobola Kayode stated this while giving evidence before the coroner, Magistrate Mikhail Kadiri set up to unravel the cause of death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni jnr.

The nurse who obtained a BSc in Nursing in Ukraine said:”After massaging the deceased’s right thigh with deep heat, I administered paracetamol. So he slept in the sick bay before he went back to his room. He had attended class in the morning.”

She said she did a follow-up on him at the hostel and stayed in the female hostel.

“I went to the hostel to tell the house master after the second time I rubbed his thigh with deep heat,” she said.

The witness said there was improvement after the massage and he went back to the hostel unassisted.

“The first time I applied the deep heat, and continued with it in the evening. The second day, on Tuesday, I met the deceased in the sick bay lying down. I don’t know if his health was deteriorated when I met him sleeping,” she said.
