Russia said on Saturday that it had used hypersonic Kinzhal (Dagger) missiles to destroy a large weapons depot in Ukraine’s western Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Russia’s Interfax news agency said it was the first time Russia had deployed the hypersonic Kinzhal system since it sent its troops into Ukraine on February 24.

Defense ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told a briefing that the underground depot hit by the Kinzhal system on Friday housed Ukrainian missiles and aircraft ammunition, according to a recording of the briefing shared by Russian news agencies.

Russia prides itself on its advanced weaponry, and President Vladimir Putin said in December that Russia was the global leader in hypersonic missiles, whose speed, maneuverability and altitude make them difficult to track and intercept.

Hypersonic weapons such as Russia’s 3M22 Zircon fly so fast and low — at speeds of up to Mach 6 and at a low atmospheric-ballistic trajectory — that they can penetrate traditional anti-missile defense systems.

The missile flies with an advanced fuel that the Russians say gives it a range of up to 1,000 kilometers. And it’s so fast that the air pressure in front of the weapon forms a plasma cloud as it moves, absorbing radio waves and making it practically invisible to active radar systems.

Use of Hypersonic missiles is a very stern statement that suggests Russia is at its wits end, and even the US/NATO need to be wary and tread carefully.

He called for talk with Russia after the strike but the issue is not Ukraine president but his master from Whitehouse, who want to defend Ukraine with the last Ukrainian.
Even many main EU countries that contribute billions to EU fund have started talking about Ukraine making a peace with Russia.

Those Baltic states, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary are nothing but parasites to EU.
French President said it many times and blamed Germany to some extent USA.
Ukraine will not be joining EU as if it is possible for Italy and France to reduce EU to join 12 members.

Remember Syria war allow Russia military to test more than over 200 different weapons.

It was Syria that made many people knew that Russia missiles are deadly and no need to make noises about it.

Yes, testing is done by most nations during real wars. So this is in a way further testing.

However, the use of hypersonic missiles here goes further to reiterate the futility of trying to establish a no-fly zone whether by NATO or Ukraine military as have been called for consistently by zelenski, and more recently by some US politicians this week as emotions ran wild after zelenski’ virtual address.

Hypersonic missiles means the west needs to rethink their approach of involvement in this war. Do they have what it takes to protect their own cities if things escalate beyond Ukraine. Not sure!

Let everyone on both sides reappraise their stance and reasonably queue behind diplomatic resolution of the conflict going forward.
