Bros is it a crime to post pictures of things you admire or probably something that seems strange to you? I don't get when you guys feel hate about other people success. You talking about inferiority complex ain't you guys ashamed that a tribe neglect after a civil war has done tremendously well to build mansions for themselves without any government support or any foreign investor? Meanwhile, we Igbo's don't envy anybody and compete with any other tribes in Nigeria but one thing we igbo's can't stop doing is leaving igbo land to be underdeveloped. I'm in my 30s now and I will be starting my own house by December. So I will be updating you on nairaland to keep you motivated to enable you do same in your village. Sapeleboy911: 6 Likes 1 Share |

SlyDev: Stop envying Igbos. An Igbo man who shall succeed President Buhari shall enable all of Nigeria build homes like these. Let the two major political parties field two Igbo presidential candidates for the 2023 presidential election. If Tinubu SW APC continues to aak for zoning to enable south to produce a successor to President Buhari, but refuses zoning in the southern regions because it's the turn of the Igbo to succeed President Buhari, the north shall then ignore zoning but produce a presidential candidate in PDP. Tinubu or any SW APC presidential candidate looses the presidential election. Develop more sense please. 4 Likes |

TheManOfTheYear:There are things you do not understand about Lagos but in summary,Lagos has never been for sale.I won't say more than that.Let us leave it there. On Banana Island, you apparently misunderstood me sir, the ticket to get a property there is not because you are Yoruba, it is that you are ultra high networth , phenomenally ultra succcessful and have a verifiable elitist family pedigree. . That is where the scions of the Yoruba old Ikoyi money have the edge and why an Obi Cubana et al do not have houses in Banana. It is run like a company and not like your regular estate . It will be easier for an Emefiele to get a property there than an MC Oluomo yet MC Oluomo is Yoruba except if MC Oluomo is from the old Yoruba Ikoyi money. The board is peopled mostly by the scions of this old Ikoyi money who are mostly Yoruba ( I won't disclose the names of the Yoruba families) and own almost all the property there and who have over the years inter married and know one another as far back as their primary school days in Saint Saviours,Ikoyi It is done in the west in every highly civilized capitalist urban city settings where the ultra High networth create an exclusive zone for themselves so it is not new. The brilliant Architect Yoruba man who conceptualized the Island for scions of Yoruba old Ikoyi money is late now but the idea is to create an upper class estate for the Yoruba ultra HNI and scions of Ikoyi old money. It is a strategic way to fence out the new money because most of this elite old Ikoyi money live in old Ikoyi while their scions live in Banana Island. . To understand this concept, please read the tragedy in the book "The Great Gasby" and how Gatsby was never accepted by the old money. In that book , you will appreciate more why you need to work hard for your descendants today. 1 Like

goaldynman:Stop deceiving yourselves The wealth, pedigree and status of those who will screen them alone will intimidate them. They will beat you hands down in money, education and pedigree. Imagine you with your Alaba money from importing and exporting from China or Malaysia or money you saved up after several years of servitude overseas, now facing Oxford University trained Lawyer who is Ultra HNI on his own and whose family holds controlling shares in few Multinational companies for decades , speaks 3-5 foreign languages fluently and scion of a Yoruba surname that immediately rings a bell in your head! Do not bother, you are wasting your time. Do not compare those boys and yourself to Linda Ikeji, the father of Linda Ikeji is a household name , she is a Lagos girl raised in Lagos and the rumours around how she got the house says the missing piece. If nobody knows your father, your money can not be traced down to old money and you are an outsider, trust me you will not even come close to be another Gatbsy It is not for money miss roads and sudden 'new' money holders you are mouthing. Banana Island is a sanctuary for the scions of the Yoruba old Ikoyi money and succcessful ultra HNI with very verifiable and strong phenomenal life achievements. They have maintained it that way for years. |

deukpai: Like seriously? Ashamed of what? Do you expect the federal government to build houses for you? While other state governors were busy building low-cost houses, your Rochas Okorocha was busy building statues. GEJ was a deputy governor, a governor, vice president, the president was there anything to show for it even in his local government area? I can categorically tell you that for almost 12 years now there is no power or good road in his own Ogbia local government. Even the entrance to his own Otueke house is filled with potholes. You have state governors receiving fat federal allocations from the federal government of Nigeria, hold them accountable, and stop envying others. If truly you are in your early 30s then permit me to say it's a big shame for you to think and behave like someone in his early 20s. So building your first house in your early 30s is now a big achievement that will become a topic of discussion on a public forum? Shame on you!!! |

FreeStuffsNG:Why you too dey lie like this nitori Olohun? Is it the same banana island or there's another that I'm not aware of? Boy, there's nothing special about banana island. My uncle was the first set of people to erect a building there when it wasn't overcrowded. I'm talking about year 2005 / 2007. Infact, most people regretted and sold their houses after a heavy downpour flooded the areas and houses submerged. I've been tripping in and out of banana island before they gave birth to most of you kids on nairaland and I can confidently tell you one or two as regards that area of Ikoyi. If you want to lie, at least lie with sense because you don't know is who. Make we no yarn much sha because this your mumu stories no gel rara and I wouldn't want to fall your hand online as per say you're my fellow Omoluabi. 2 Likes
