Considerations When Recruiting Online by ankit1230: 1:02pm On Mar 22, 2022
Many organizations choose recruiting online as their first choice when aiming to fill vacant positions and prefer it to the traditional recruitment process. Studies have shown that almost 70% of recruiting companies use the Internet to recruit professionals for their organization.

However, notwithstanding the popularity of the Internet as a recruiting medium, there are certain things to bear in mind when recruiting online. In particular, you need to be ready for the high volume of applications and candidates that you will receive, as you ultimately need to find the right candidate from within these.

When you post jobs online there is a very high probability that you will receive a huge amount of applications in the process, many of which are from candidates who may not be very well qualified for the job.

One way you can avoid being inundated with applications from non-qualified candidates is to introduce a pre-screening test. This has the effect of restricting the application process to only those who are eligible based on the screening factors that you define.

This is also a very proactive way of streamlining the process to remove some of the volume and is a necessity if you are recruiting online because you need to fill a vacancy quickly.

Another way of qualifying candidates is to format the details of the job profile very carefully to specifically attract applications from candidates who have the appropriate skills and experience for the job.

Since recruiting online is very impersonal, you should aim to balance any pre-screening process with providing sufficient details on the company so that you can still motivate the right candidates to take action and apply.

This is the type of consideration that should be built into your company’s recruitment policy. You should also use agencies or online jobs websites that have a high quality database of potential candidates who can meet the standards set by your company, as this helps to make the whole online recruitment process much more productive.

Whilst these are some of the aspects you should consider when recruiting online, it is very important to remember that the whole online recruitment process involves distance. You do not get to meet or see the applicant and in many cases the interview may need to be conducted either by web-conferencing or by telephone.

As you need to be certain that the applicant’s personality and attitude is a good match for your company, you should also consider setting up a face-to-face interview or meeting so that you can meet the candidate in person before making your final decision.

Whilst recruiting online helps to streamline the process and save you a significant amount of time and money you should build your recruitment strategy with the core objective of getting the right person for the position.
