The west says they want to asphyxiate Russia economy. over $300b of Russia's foreign reserve has been frozen as of now and lot of western companies has temporarily stop operating in Russia.
Russia however has not even paused not to talk of stop it's invasion even amidst all the sanctions, Which only Means one thing, they are not phased with those sanctions and it's definitely not enough to change Thier stance.
So the question is why are they not taking those sanctions as seriously as people around the world think.the answer is simple they have a lot of wild cards to play.
The first one is Thier close trade relationship with china and India. China has an economy that is bigger than the whole of Europe combined with the largest consumer market on earth and currently it's bilateral relationship with Russia is the closest in the world and it has blatantly refused to take any actions against Russia and continue it's normal trade with them, infact 2 months ago china signed a $150b oil deal with Russia.
Infact china is looking to increase it's oil and commodities imports from Russia by 70%
The same thing goes for India, infact india has increased it's Russian oil purchase this very month, and still actively importing arms, wheat and many more commodities from Russia.
Even most Western countries still import most of their oil and gas from Russia amidst this tensions.
Europe relies heavily on Russian gas,it
As of today Russia sells over a $1b worth of gas to Europe daily.
Russia will always have oil and there will always be buyers for that oil.
Countries like mexico, Hungary, Portugal,Qatar, china India, Columbia, south Korea,Japan,Brazil,Iran, Pakistan,Serbia, Armenia,UAE,the whole of Africa(50 countries),all of south America 17 countries,Canada, USA and many others including NATO countries still trade with Russia even till today.
The whole of Europe still buy oil from Russia,in fact most of them are now required to pay in rubles.
How do you aim to asphyxiate an economy that does not need you as much as you need them.
When Mastercard temporarily suspend operations in Russia to show support for Ukraine the second day it was replaced by china's Union pay and Mastercard's shares lost billions in just a day.
Russia has by far the biggest consumer market in Europe so there is no way those companies can stay away for long because it's obviously bad for business and they will loose capital and investments in droves, that's why most of them are saying they are temporarily suspending operations not leaving the country.

The Russians won't feel the sanctions now

Just give it 2-3 month, they will start feeling it.

On the long run, Putin must bend.
Sanctions are better than nuking Russia & turning the whole brouhaha into WW3.
The wise ones start with sanctions at first.
The ebil ones start with nukes.

OP, you definitely meant to type "faze".

The truth is, such sanctions take a while to take effect and Putin knows Ukraine would likely give in before then. And then you have the oil stuff.
