My own experience happened in 2010. I was traveling back to Awka (unizik) cos school has resumed.

I boarded PMT at Ojuelegba, and that was during the era of ore road, we've all heard nasty tales about how dangerous and notorious that road was. The road was an eyesore and was littered with hoodlums and criminals who rob passengers with reckless abandon.

We left Ojuelegba by past 7am to and got to ore by 9pm cos of the traffic.

The driver now decided to park at a local motel so we can pass the night there and continue our journey at first light the following day. We all agreed cos we knew how notorious that area was especially at night.

By 3:am this silly PMT driver started horning for us to board that he has to be in Enugu by 7am cos it's his turn to load Lagos.

We told him it's still very early and dangerous, he rudely told us that he doesn't care that if we want to remain at the motel he would leave us and go.

So we boarded back the bus and continued our journey, to be honest, I was scared. Very scared.

We passed through ore and entered Benin, as we got to the benin bypass, I heard 3 loud gunshots, the worst had happened.

The robbers blocked our way with planks, tires and fired sporadically into the air to scare off anyone around.

Our driver halted the bus and they asked us to alight and lie on the ground, they ransacked everyone, phones, cash, shoes, wristwatches...etc were all taken.

My only joy was that the bus was filled with female students in fact more than 80% of the passengers were girls, yet no one was ràped.

After robbing us, they left us lying face down on the road and made they way into the bush. We go up, counted our losses, insulted the living hell out of the driver and moved on.

We got to unizik junction by 9am, that was an experience I will never forget.
Ur story vex me. Wetin be insulting living hell? So u mean u didn't slap the driver at least? If una join hand burn the the bus set, una no overdo. Very vexing conclusion.

I was attacked twice with Sharp Knives on two occasions, most funniest thing was I also pulled a stunt by struggling with them, at first closer to my street very dark saw a guy sagging putting hand in his pocket , immediately i sighted him, I soji my self and 5meters to where I staggered back and took to my heels , he chased, at a point I got to a place where I could defend myself, I took a long stick and turned and chased him back till he crossed express, second was a talk fierced guy wit more like aboki long suya knife, he took me to one corner to surrender my belongings I was carrying a bag , he taught I was carrying a laptop and other valuable good, he was trying to shook me , I then threw the bag to distract him and ran towards Mile12 express to reinforce some guys fortunately nothing valuable was in my bag, my phone and debit card was in my inner pocket, while I was shouting Ole! Ole! He ransacked my bag and saw nothing until he dump the bag, while I quickly ran back to pickup, it was a terrific!

The probability of escaping is high in the first case than in the second because you know your way out since you are familiar with the area.

You're a non*ntity and a d*ft being.

After this you're free to believe whatever that makes you happy.

Listen, most youths and adults can drive or direct a driver from southwest or wherever they live and work to their villages, because they know the routes and have plied it severally.

In a situation where they find themselves in that kind of scenario, it will be easy for them to find their way out or locate any police station because they might have seen one during one of their journeys. At least the chances are higher.

Unlike someone that was employed as a personal driver in southwest and due to one thing or the other, his boss pleaded with him to drive(his first time) his wife and kids to the village because he(his Oga) as one or two things he's doing at that time.
I made that comment with a clean mind but it's not unexpected in a forum like Nairaland to have ineff*ctual buff*ons like you turning everything to tribalism.

I don't blame you, since that is what you are(a Tribal big*t), you think others are like that.

I have better things to do with my time, so you can do me a favour and GTFOOH.
Don't expect any further response from me wrt this topic.

I give glory back to God on how he saved me around 2005/2006 in Enugu when I was held at gun point. It was very early in the morning around 5:00am when I woke up to go somewhere. I followed one jungle shortcut to school that early morning when a thief came out from nowhere and pointed a gun at me. He wanted to collect phone and small money I had with me that day.

That phone was so precious to me because it contained useful information I had not backed up. I looked around but no single person I could signal for help. Immediately he pointed gun at me telling me to hand over my phone and money, I pretended as I was trying to handover as if I was giving signal to someone at his back. As he looked at his back to find out if somebody was close to his back that i signalled, I pushed him down with last strength I had, he fell down and I started shouting thief, thief immediately on top of my voice as I ran before he could manage to stand up.

As the guy managed to stand up, he ran towards another direction; he did not even bother to chase me again because he was terrified with my loud early morning shout. God really helped me to fool him that day, I escaped unhurt and I did not loose my phone and money.

My own was not knife or gun, it was matched that big one there use in cutting down big tree. Back then in 2019 I was working in Bet9ja as the General manager, so, one faithful morning my boss gave me 80k to go and pay in the bank for him so I left very early around 7:30 am. So on my way to the bank when I drop from a bus. Few minutes walk I saw three guys rounded me up and ask me for light change to start the day. So I said I don't have anything on me that am rushing somewhere. Immediately the saw a phone on my hand , the next thing there brought out was a big matched from under their cloth and ask me to hand over to then. What am telling you guys is not that it was close to Bush or no body was living there, it was Uyo Plaza in Akwa ibom State where everyone was passing. So I said to them na here we go die. There grap me but I struggled with them and stated shouting thife oooooo. Immediately there ran away. It was possible for them to collect the phone and also the money that was in my pocket but I gathered the courage to struggle with them. I no go lie I was scared.

I was robbed few weeks ago.
On 11th this month. Here in Abuja wuse 2 by 3 hausa guys with knives
We were 4 in numbers on our to night dinner party
I was the only male in the midst of the 4 people.
While on our way going our car got spoilt ( over heating) by the side of the road we all came down and trying to let it cool off before we add water
. 20mins of waiting 3 armed hausa men just attacked me from behind. Note I was standing alone far from those ladies so i was attacked first. Initially I didn't knew what was happening because they were speaking hausa and one was holding my waist and I was busy pushing him away not until I look up and discovered that he was holding a knife pointing at me to stab me all these girls ran away I was the only one so I was trying my possible best to block myself from the knife trying to hold his hand but he kept swinging it. That's when I pushed him and and started running
they gave me a hot chase I fell down multiple times my phone fell off one of them picked it. I sustained bruises all over my body including dislocation in my upper arm region which I'm still nurturing till date . Have been in a state of depression all these while the trauma and everything keeps ringing in my head. Haven't been able to go to hospital to get myself treated because no enough cash with me again.
I would have been stab to death but I narrowly escaped. It's a miracle that I'm still alive now
Na wah inside FCT again. Always carry a teaser.

I have once been held at a knife point.

During the END-SARS protest in late 2020, I was on my way to work in the wee-hours of the morning, I boarded a taxi and dropped at the junction while waiting for the staff bus to come.

Immediately I alighted from the taxi, three young dirty-looking smelling boys rounded me up. They held me and told me to bring my bag and empty my pocket. I had a laptop in the bag and two phones in my pocket. I also had my office key-card, a flash and some amount of money in the bag.

These boys from the underworld pointed their knives and wanted to stab me. I gently handed over my properties to them to avoid being on the front page of Nairaland.

The security operatives where not on the road as a result of the protests that time and few commuters were on the road.

This particular sad event still lingers in my mind and I almost slid into PTSD.

When I narrated the unfortunate story, some of my guys laughed at me saying I was not a street-rugged guy.

Share your own experience, I'll be in the comment section to read.
Well happened 2017, I closed from work really late and I got to okoko around 11pm, my mistake was to alight from the bus at the middle of the deserted construction area....as I was going forward, I walked passed a guy, next thing I noticed he tapped my shoulder as I turned, he pointed something that looked like a gun at me....immediate I just pushed me, bent down and ran ziz zaz way away from him....as I ran into the crowded area, I told some aboki there that a guy almost robbed me, dey said na god save you say you run sha....anyways I'm always a careful guy, I just almost dull myself that day, cos I had like 20k with me and 2 iPhone
