Bill To Establish National Religious Harmony Commission Passes Second Reading In Senate


The Senate has passed a bill creating the National Religious Harmony Commission on its second reading.



The proposed legislation calls for the commission to be established as a means of promoting religious tolerance, peace, and harmony in Nigeria.



Because of the country's history of religious intolerance, the bill's sponsor, Senator Sadiq Umar, argued that, having recognized the delicate role religion plays in national security, peace, and concord, it is critical to encourage inter-religious harmony and understanding.



He explained that the measure aims to provide a conducive atmosphere for the peaceful coexistence of various religious views in Nigeria, as well as a platform for public education and discourse.

Meaning National Orientation Agency cannot do the job? Competence lies more in policies and actions, and less in creation of bodies.

First thing to do to promote religious harmony in Nigeria is to scrap Sharia. If the Christians or other religions should have their own equivalent of Sharia it's going to cause bigger vawulence, we all know it. So if all can't have their own court one can't have either.
We already have democracy. Two laws for one country is a bad thing
