Yesterday I had a discussion with some folks about oppression in marriage. Most of them were of the view that a person who can tell his spouse that he is being oppressed by that same spouse is not really being oppressed. In order words, the fact that you can tell your spouse that you are being oppressed by him/her is an obvious pointer to the fact that you are not being oppressed...

I am of the view that persons who are being oppressed decline gradually from talking to their oppressors about it to not talking all.

Are there different degrees of oppression in marriages and relationships?

Are you in or have you been a relationship or a marriage where you feel oppressed by your partner?

If yes, what is the nature of the abuse, were you able to address it or are you still enduring it?

Oppression is a prolonged cruel and unjust treatment
Also exercising authority with the mindset of intimidating
So in couples it is likely that your partner will oppress you if he or she especially 'she'( cus it is common among women )runs the daily activity of the family I mean the financial aspect
And most times if you are under oppression by your spouse you are not likely to speak up cus of the things you may lose .
And I believe that people who suffer oppression are people who are mostly dependent
