I'm actually shocked at the responses I'm seeing on the first page , I would be surprised if the interviewer didn't ask this particular question. Anyone can write whatever in a CV , moreso not everything you've achieved in your professional career can be put in your CV , as a rule most interviewers need you to expatiate on what is in your CV

So imagine police collect ur license
He now ask tell me about ur license
Honestly you just feel bored instantly
The question is part of the interview, is to test the patience of the interviewee because a times customer ask unnecessary questions how are you going to react to it. You got it wrong at interview shows that you will get it wrong at work

The job seeker is a m*oron. If an employer asks any question, just answer it to your best ability, even if you think the question is unnecessary! Questions are asked to test you.

The guy is too proud of himself, and I won't hire such a narcasist.

If not that I might be blocking someone else's interview slot, I always wanted to pull the stunt especially now that I'm fully self employed.

shocked

He was absolutely correct. What is the essence of the CV? Why asked stupid question again when you've already asked of his CV which he submitted prior the interview day. I thought she might have went through the guy's cv before the invitation for the interview was sent to him.

But the guy na werey ogrin It seems he wasn't interested at all in the job or the story is fake.

I wholeheartedly disagree.
A CV is just a piece of paper which may/ not contain the real experience of the job applicant.
The role of the interviewer is to find out if the person whom he’s read on paper is the same person infront of him/her. I have never in my life heard such an answer from a candidate. It just shows he’s over confident and perhaps didn’t want the job.
The CV gets you in the door - your attitude and answers gets you in the position.

I think the guy grew up in the western world. But he should have researched on what's obtainable here...
In 9ja for example, we would launch into a preaching about ourselves, family lives, friends, childhood etc in the hope of impressing the interviewer when in truth bulk of those things are just in the CV he or she is holding across us

Nope ! Disagree . I know a ton of people who grew up in western world and nobody in his right mind responds to an answer that way. He may be qualified but attitude counts , your intangibles counts, culture counts. It’s was an opportunity to sell himself to the dude and he failed .

Then why did he come for the interview? He should have just sent the organization the CV and let them decide if they want him or not.

Telling the interviewer about yourself when looking for a job is only pertinent regardless of what you have in your CV. They want to hear you speak. They want to see her how well you articulate your thoughts and they want to give you the opportunity to say those things that can't be put in one's CV. They just want to see the human part of you. You aren't all about your professional achievements (which your CV contains). Your CV might show you've changed 3 times in a year (red flag) but you can easily shed more light on that when asked to talk about yourself.

How exactly do you expect the interview to commence if both parties don't talk about themselves first? I can't believe people complain when asked to introduce themselves. Have y'all been interviewers before or you just gang up against anything that seems superior to you?

Sometimes interviewees are more knowledgeable than their interviewers. You collected his CV and still be asking him CV questions.
But the guy na oversabi kill am. One of the 48 laws of power says that you should never try to outshine the master even when he appears less knowledgeable than you. That is why he is the master. What do I know sef.

There is a caveat to that first law. If u read the book, it states under the conditions you can outsmart the master.

Dt been said, dt guy just kolo anyhow. But on a second thought, there are signs to look out for why seeking employment. For instance, I abhor any ad dt says "work under pressure". Or JD is as the manager directs. An HR dt couldn't spend few minutes to peruse through resume prior to interview is a symptom of unstructured environment where things are done as it comes.
