There are threefold kinds of people in any given society. This distinction has been noted and made by notable sociologists and public intellectuals. However, the threefold distinctions were identified by the supporters and founders of democracy in ancient Greece. For the Greeks, the first kind of people are the IDIOTS. The idiots are not necessarily people with mental deficiencies, rather, people who are totally private, self centred and selfish. They are simply out for their personal gains and interests. They have no public philosophy, no charisma, no knowledge, no skills, no character and no virtues. They are unable to live and contribute in a flourishing society. They are simply upgraded barbarians. The second group are the TRIBES PEOPLE. They have tribal mentalities. Their primary, only and ultimate allegiance is to their tribe. They are not able to think beyond their tribe and small group. They are always afraid of things that are different and a little alien to them. They are always suspicious and fearful of other people. They deal with other people and difficult situations with brute and violence, force and intimidation. They are myopic and extremely violent in nature. The third person the Greeks call the IDEAL PERSON, THE CITIZEN. The citizen has the skills and knowledge to live in a life of civility. They are altruistic by nature. The citizen recognizes that he or she is a member of the commonwealth and strives for the common good. The citizen knows his or her rights in a society as well his his or her responsibilities and obligations to society. They can fight for their rights but always with an awareness of and respect for the rights and interests of others, particularly the smallest minorities in the society. The Greeks say that it is the citizen that makes up a civilized society because citizens settle their differences with civility. The Greeks say that citizens produce a civilized society, a society that lives up to the true meaning of the name SOCIETY, which literally means FRIENDSHIP AND FRIENDLINESS. These are the threefold distinctions the Greeks have given us and it is our responsibility as a nation and society, to ensure that no idiots and tribes men and women will rule us again.
The trajectory calls for mass political consciousness to enable us as a society, produce a citizen as our leader, otherwise, we will continue to drift into abeyance and anarchy. And the world will continue to see us as upgraded barbarians.

Add religious fanatics to the list for a wider reach.
