Hello Nairalanders, I think it's time we have a dedicated thread to share ideas and discuss about Ebike or EV.
The future is now, many countries are moving away from fuel and combustion engines, we need to gear up to it.
I know alot of guys that are already discussing Ebikes here, but there's no dedicated thread for it.
Feel free to share your inputs.

I am an EV enthusiast and I believe EV will take off and really develop in Nigeria despite our electricity issues because many used parts can be easily converter to EV parts

Sure, what many peeps don't know is that it's easy and even cheap to setup a solar charging station for ev (in the long run), given the Nigeria situation.
If you have any DIY project you're currently working on, you may share.

I don't have any EV project for now. I'm hoping to have an EV startup company soon. For now I'm studying the trend in EV. There is a company in the US that does conversion of fossil fuel cars to EV cars.
I believe that there is a future in that as the percentage of people who cannot afford new EV and would want to convert thier old fossil fuel car would be higher than that of people who can or want to buy new EV
And by the way did you hear about the latest Mercedes EV that can drive for 1000km on a single charge? That means you can drive that car for weeks before needing g to charge it.
I have been dreaming of that car since I heard about it. Imagine getting your hands on that technology!

Yea bro. Heard about the Mercedes EV, I think they've invested more in some sort of new and improved tech battery.
Personally, I getting my hands on building lithium battery to power any drive chain motor or hub motor. I wish to start converting small motorbike to ev drive and hopefully move up to automobile.

There is a Nigerian on YouTube who does IC to EV conversion. To do the conversion, replace the engine with electric motor. Replace the fuel tank with battery pack. There are other components that will replace the gear system.

The Eqxx is a great car but battery is not the future of EV because of charge time. Hydrogen is the fuel of the future and Toyota is already pivoting in that direction with the Mirai. Hydrogen car is an EV but you fill it with fuel like IC car.

A good EV business I see in Nigeria is having a solar charging station and a fleet of electric keke. When the battery gets drained to a level, the driver comes to the office and swaps his drained battery for a fully charged one. The business makes money by employing, training the keke drivers and doing revenue share with them or renting the keke daily for a fee.

I agree with you as per hydrogen fuel cell being the future of EV. Nuclear batteries would also have been a good option if not for safety, cost and security concerns. Those can run up to 20 years at a go.
