When the Alaafin (Emperor of Oyo) supported Yoruba Animist Traditional Religion Isese

The first Yoruba bible translated by Bishop Ajayi Crowther substituted the important Yoruba Trixter Spirit (God) of Esu as Satan.

The Yoruba Bible with the same translation of Esu is widely in circulation today.

Our Alaafin came forth to clear this misconception.

To stop the colonial demonization of Yorubal Indigenous Faith.

The Elephant was walking on stones but we could no longer see the legs of the elephant.

This is my reaction to the passing on of a great King who openly supported our movement, "ÈṢÙ IS NOT SATAN", His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Aláàfin of Ọ̀yọ́.

ỌBÁ JU ỌBA LỌ, SOME KINGS ARE MORE POWERFUL THAN SOME KINGS.

When Aláàfin of Ọ̀yọ́ speaks, people must listen. While some Obas( you know them) are using derogatory words to describe our divinities, the Great Aláàfin proclaimed, "ÈṢÙ IS NOT SATAN". May his gentle soul continue to rest well with the Ancestors.

How can Ìṣẹ̀ṣe win this war against those who want to destroy our cherished Yoruba heritage?

Though things were not perfect with the burial of Aláàfin of Ọ̀yọ́ but we still thank the Ìṣẹ̀ṣe Practitioners who performed necessary rites.

Stay blessed all Practitioners of Ìṣẹ̀ṣe.

Alaafin Lamidi Adeyemi III will live on in our hearts and homes.

When Samuel ajayi crowther was translating the English Bible to Yoruba, he mistakenly translated satan to esu and they have zero correlation, not only that eledumare/olorun has nothing to do with Elohim or Yahweh or Allah.
I wish he was still alive, I’d love to ask why he did that.
Is it intentional or he did it out of ignorance?

If you ask me, I believe it is to be on good terms with the North and those at Abuja.

It was intentional. Every Yoruba knows what Esu is.
