Who says this creature is slow cos it's faster than I thought when it saw me encroaching. I am planning to keep it as a pet or to sell it to elewe Omo ( herbs seller).

Is this a tortoise or a turtle

Firstly, picture missing.
Secondly, let the poor creature live its life a free creature.
Don't sell it into bondage.

if you let it leave it life, another person will capture it and still kill it.

If you can take care if it, please keep it as a pet. Much of a wonder that this little creature can outlive you. smiley

If I were in your shoes, I'll look for a more remote part of the bush and release it there. If you sell it, how much will you get? Not more than 2k, which will finish before you even know it. Release it and nature will always look out for you. You'll receive unmerited favors

This turtle looks sad. Maybe you won't take it away from its habitat? I think you shouldn't interfere in this creature's life. If you want to have a turtle as a pet, it's better to visit a pet store and take a small turtle from there. You can keep it all your life. Besides, it will never grow to the size this one from your photo. But if you still want to take it home, read at least one good resource about its life cycles, food, content, and habits. I searched for information about turtles and found a good website https://www.taphibians.com/ . There are a lot of articles about turtles. I think it will be good for you to save it.
