A Story My Friend Told Me. Learn From It. by funnyDM: 10:15pm On May 02, 2022
Recently, I was told a story about a large corporation in the US. In this company, the scientists’ major job is to think out “Ideas” and forward these to the technologists who would use the ideas for production.
Over time, the technologists began to think on better ways to use the scientists’ ideas. Subsequently, the technologists phased out the ideas of the scientists and began developing their own.
The company executives, realizing this, decided that in order to cut operation costs; the scientists would be relieved of their jobs. The next day, all the scientists in that company were fired!
In this state of joblessness and confusion, the scientists went to the technologists and complained, “Since you both develop the ideas and use them in production, what would you have us do?” The technologists replied them in a single word, “Think!”
Looking at this scenario you might be wondering, what are the mistakes of these scientists and why were they fired?
Did they really make some mistakes? Let’s examine some facts here and draw insight into the morals of the story. Here we go!

1) In your life endeavors, thinking about a great idea is not enough. You must act towards it to stay relevant.

2) Do not be complacent in your career. Keep improving yourself. Every career is a competition. If you fail to develop yourself, your subordinate who is striving harder to become better and better will – sooner than you expect – become your superior.

3) Don’t ever think your subordinates can not influence the executives’ decision on you and your position.

4) At the office, no one gives a f**k about you! Yeah, you heard me right. They’re only interested in nothing but the best you possibly can give. They will only use you for your best skills and dump you when you or your skill becomes irrelevant.

5) Think more of how many financial options you could have than how to please your employee for a pay raise. Do not be loyal to anyone but to yourself. I would rather be happy to work out ways to earn $500 monthly on my own than to be a zombie to an employer for a $1000 pay raise. I’m sure you’ll agree with me on this.

So do your own thing and get better every day. In the end, those who take proactive actions always win.
