Not that easy like that you need a police report and court order for that your best option is for the guy to plead with the customer.
It's possible. It happened to one of my uncle last year. He mistakenly credited one hausa man account instead of his clients own(3.5m). He went to the bank and complained, bank first block the money so it won't be assessed. He was given the phone number of the hausa man so that he can contact him so things are settled diplomatically. But the hausa man wasn't helping matters. He kept dropping call once it's about d money. The bank den involved both police and court orders, also d help of the third party's bank and remitted my uncle's money back to him. Dis took a week.

Hello Nairalanders,

Please I need your help in sorting out a transaction I did. On the 25th of April, 2022 I did a transfer to a first bank account which didn't go as a result of bad network from the bank. Later that day, I tried the transaction a second time and it was now successful.

When it was time for me to go home, I did my balancing and discovered that I was having shortage. So I did a review of my days transaction and I discovered that the initial transaction later went. Meaning that the customer got credited twice.

I called my bank to confirm the transaction and I was told that both transaction were successful. I then called the customer who now claimed that he only got credited for once.

I told him to check his app, he replied that he doesn't use an android phone. I then told him to go to his bank to get his bank statement, his reply was that he doesn't have time to go to his bank.

Please guys, how do I solve this case? Is there a way I can go to first bank to get evidence that the money is in the customers account? And is it possible for me to get a police report in other to go to first bank to get evidence?

Kindly advice as your suggestions will go a long way in solving this case.
call ur bank customer care, don't go to the bank, but call the customer care.

Tell them what happened, and include the receiver scammed you by failing to refund your money, if the customer care want to really work, they will inform the guys bank, the said money will be freeze in his account.

His bank will call him and inform him about the situation, if he gives them the go ahead, ur money will be refunded

Op no cause for alarm , just go your bank and lodge the complain. They will reverse it. But if the customer already withdraw the whole money from the account, then you have to pray money enter the account otherwise there is nothing the bank will do. I will advise you to go to your account bank quickly to file the complain...
Another solution is to print out you statement then use it as proved of successful transaction, then go to the customer. If he still claimed he didn't see the money twice take him along to his bank . Let him print his statement. Then he will not be able to deny it.... If he doesn't want to go easily you can arrest him but make sure you have a statement of your account first to show as prove

Op, I'm dealing with almost same issue here too. In a rush to credit a POS operator, I credited a stored name in my app but I don't know who the person is. So, I called my bank and an issuer error has been raised. I am now to give them 4 working days which I believe begins today so, I'll follow up to see if I can get my money back but the credited account bank has to be notified and then the customer. If your customer refuses to pay back, it can be a criminal offense and can serve jail term. Explore your bank to take it up from their end.

Visit your bank and request for a recall but this process will take a longer time ...it will be better if he can go with you with your evidence. But most likely the person got the fund

Why are people always dishonest? Receiving money twice then denying it.

There must be a proper channel to address this issue.

Experts on NL, please your advice is needed.

I guess you hv the name and acct number of the recipient. Go to ur own bank, meet a higher officer to complain. The can lias with their friendly counterpart from the recipient bank for solution and know if the recipient actually received it twice. Then from there, his bank can invite the person for refund, else the freeze his account because he has an Issue to settle.

If your bank didn't take action after Complaining, then go to his bank and complain if you actually has the evidence that his acct was mistakenly credited twice. Go to a branch within the locality of ur Customer to complain will be easier.

Tho, the money na change....if nothing is done look for cbn official email. WRite a detailed complain and attach your evidence including your own statement of acct showing the double debit. Don't forget to copy cpc and stating ur dissatisfaction against ur bank(branch precisely) for doing nothing after Complaining.

Happened to me with 1.7k wrong transac, it was recovered thru liaising with recipient bank.

Go to your bank and let them send an erroneous mail to the recipient bank.

Reconciliation will be done and tour money will be reversed.

Please note that the process might be long but you will surely get a reversal.

@Op. U need to get it right first before approaching police for report. Send a mail to your bank to confirm the status of the 2 transactions (if both successful or not) that will necessitate your next move.

That's how I forfeited 20k I paid to a wrong account few months ago. The recipient according to the customer care rep didn't waste time to withdraw and for them to place a lien on her account, I'd have to get a court order. Court order for 20k is not worth the stress.

1. Go to your own bank to complain, it may take time but you will be refunded.
2. If your bank confirms the transaction was successful, give the customer time, buy items from him and promise to pay later, you can even pick items of higher amount. Werey lafin wo werey

It has happened to me before. Just call your bank and give them details, the person's account will be debited and reversed to you.

I had this kind of issue around February. I transferred money to a POS operator but the transaction is not successful on reaching home I got a debit for that transaction. I didn't see it as a serious matter until I went back there the following day and the lady was telling me stories that she lost her phone that day I came that she don't know if she received the money that I should come back or call her in the next five days being on Wednesday that she will go to her bank and check.
Behold when I called her on Thursday instead of Wednesday at least to give her time she told me that she is too busy to go to the bank and saying all sort of nasty things to me. I still went back to that place with all the evidence of the transaction and I begged from today till tomorrow but she did not give me the money and what is annoying me is that she knew that the money was in her account just that she want me to get tired of coming for the money so that she will take it. So after doing all I could that day I asked her when I could check back again? she told me to check back in one to 2weeks and whenever I reach there it is one story to another.untill one day she got tired and she told me that she went to her bank ,that they said, that the money was not in her account meanwhile we are using the same bank (UBA) and I have gone to the bank and they told me that the money was in her account.
That was the day I confirmed how wicked and heartless some people can be. I don't know what to say to her again I just told her that I will go to my bank again. When I was leaving there I decided to leave that money to her because this issue is now getting to two months and am tired already. When I reach home I don't know what to do or who to run to I just prayed and I told God that I don't take what does not belong to me that he should not allowe this lady to eat my hard earned money just like that and I just removed my mind from it. Until one faithful Sunday morning I was going to church my mind told me to go to her shop and let her know that I know that, the money was in her account just that she don't want to give it to me. She was shocked to see me and I told her that I went to that same uba bank that she said that she went to and they confirmed that the money was in her
account, she asked me if I made the transfer from uba account (as if she doesn't know)and I said yes. She dipped her hand inside her bag and gave me my 6000 naira .I thanked my God and went home in fact it was a miracle. Since that day I learnt my lesson. I will make transfer again but I will have to recover from the one I did. Nigeria is scary trust no one when money is involved.

Since you claim you have pleaded with the customer and he's proving so difficult, the cheapest option you are having now is to go to the nearest police station closer to your outlet and make a report. Certainly it will cost you mobilization fee and thereafter he will be invited and your statement of account will be shown to him. From there, he will cooperate etc.

Pls follow back and resend the mail throutNal..

Thanks
