girls dont have any problem after finishing nysc. one guy will show up and marry her. as for the guys, na big time lost after rounding up service

I was lucky to have an uncle that understood the situation then. He was paying me weekly with access to two cars that were dropped by my cousins after they got post graduate admissions in Europe. I left after two years to face real life scenarios and stopped been a house manager.

You are right it's a nightmare hundred of thousands after NYSC are sleeping and waking up with no job in their parent house it's a sad situation and a real nightmare but I'm sure one good day it's gonna be better for them I really felt their pain.

That's why when I see youth lamenting about the ASSU strike I feel a lot of pity for especially those who still choose idleness during the schools closures instead of going to learn a skill that will make them become productive, creating wealth for themselves.

That's why undergraduates should develop themselves and be equipped for life after school. I was already teaching at tutorial colleges whilst at school. I only stopped to face my thesis squarely.
Two months after graduation, I started teaching at a school 3 minute walk from home. At least, it sustained me for a while before I moved on.
We run a faulty, near-archaic school system that centres around just academics. Our curricula don't encourage entrepreneurship at our ivory towers. So, when graduates come out, they act like mannequins. In the market place, they are too plastic to think outside the box. They are not malleable.
Schooling,not education now, doesn't guarantee one a good life. It's a rather banal statement that has transcended generations.

its difficult to speak from the perspctive of a woman.
but for guys, there are some hustling jobs that people quickly use to start life if they dont want to go home. driving.

if you go to one firm inside ikota shopping complex in lekki i cant recall the name, you fill a form with them, they will match you to a company, school or individual that needs driver. a guy can start hustling from there if he dint have skills he learned before.

Nigeria is so bad that when looking for job, its usually not based on what you studied. one igbo boy that lived with me after nysc went to lekki and started teaching peple how to swim in lekki. those houses with swimming pool and kids, he applies to train their kids weekly and he was living okay

The Govt should kuku put am for Law mak people dey serve forever nd be enjoying the 33k since you no wan progress for ur life....

Some have PPA where they are receiving morethan 50k a month.. add it to your allowee, it will be almost 90k every month.. That's starting salary for most firms in Nigeria

While I was doing my NYSC, I advised all my fellow Corpers then to use this free money opportunity to find a job, they kept drinking and taking babes out (which was not bad) but at least secure yourself or learn a skill or a trade within this period.

After NYSC, a lot of them were stuck on 15,000 Naira teaching jobs in Lagos. It was war.

NYSC is really a good programme if you plan yourself well.

the moment they callected their I D card from you, you know that you are on your own, getting something doing is the most difficult thing but you have start somewhere, learn skill that is the way forward

That is exactly what I was saying here few days ago, b4 my son graduate and serve he must have been a boss of his own, learn a skill, don't depend on getting a job alone.

We have to utilise the chance very well or else "had I known" should be the next episode.

I fucccking hate NYSC. It's ment only for the poor and unconnected in Nigeria. Na there den dey go suffer people children for nothing.

Las las the poor ones will serve as teachers in interior villages while the rich kids will get their certificates from home...

That's why I pity some corpers that walk as if they are invincible and own the world, the men especially.

my advice is that you get a digital skill before you finish your service

Thank God for Nysc many young graduate wouldn't have been on ny Government payrole
