It was a fun day out for media personality Korty EO and singer, Ayra Starr at the Upbeat Lagos.

Korty Eniola Olanrewanju in her YouTube docuseries about celebrities, sat with Mavin sensation, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe professionally known as Ayra Starr.

The pair linked up at Mavin’s studio before stepping out for a drink in the 10min video that had our breathe from beginning to the end.

The self styled celestial being opened up on family, relationship, religion, music career and controversies. Ayra Starr has been courting stardom since she was barely a teenager. “I’ve always known I’ll be a star when I was in secondary school I’ll tell my teachers do you know I’m going to be star I have always manifested it”

Ayra Starr also noted that every decision she made was tilted towards her being famous and she has always known she was born for the life. The dream was however conceived when she was 12-years-old. Ayra just like many other teenagers, was fascinated by a prime Korede Bello when Don Jazzy newly floated Mavin Records following the closure of Mo’ Hits Records.

On Ayra Starr’s Journey to Stardom

Right before catching the attention of label boss Don Jazzy in December 2019, Ayra Starr disclosed that she was troubled. After dropping covers of popular songs which made her popular, Ayra Starr dropped an original track on her Instagram page. A track that gave her the big break she’d always envisaged.

”the song I wrote and I was about to release was talking about a dark period in my life I just lost my dad it was very easy as a teenager for you to doubt everything. I didn’t want to release a track I recorded because it was too personal but I did and guess who was calling me? Don jazzy.”

He was like “we need to meet up at the studio, just call me” and the rest was history. We met at the studio with my brother. The songs we recorded that day were on my EP, two songs on my EP.

The Mavin act didn’t go without praising her label boss, Don Jazzy and describing what it’s like working with the veteran music producer.

‘A very intelligent man there is a way he carries him myself and the way he gives hundred percent creative freedom to artist makes him stand out’. She said.

Ayra Start takes us on a journey of her thought process and energy dissipated into any of her projects. The Bloody Samaritan crooner noted that she’s strives for perfection in her artistry.

“Every single word matters to me I can change a word multiple times, look for synonyms of the same word till it gets perfect. It’s better for it to be the way I want so I don’t regret later”

On the intrinsic value her music brings to listeners, Ayra Starr said “when you make an impact with your music you can’t be forgotten”
