Don't let them fool you; Southern Nigeria as a serious political grouping is a ruse! It NEVER existed, it will NEVER do. If the South as a possible political force in the Nigerian political set up could have worked, that should have been in the days of independence movement, when most of the pro independence political heavyweights, came from the South. But brazen tribalism initiated by one Chief Awolowo with his égbè ômô Oduduwa nipped this in the bud. Essentially, the country started off in 1960 on THREE very solid regional basis: The East, The North and The West. It will later increase with the creation of The Mid-West after a REFERENDUM, with the capital at Benin. These regions had well spelt out boundaries, they had reasonable common grounds amongst component units to live together and most of their political interests within the larger Nigerias political environment, looked similar.. So why am I saying these?

It's very important to put these facts out there, so that the rest of the suffering South will understand the dubious politics at play when The South West joins to shout about the need for a Southern president. This is treachery at its worst. These people are only trying to utilize the larger population within the South to galvanize their attempt to hyjack everything political gain, that is due to the rest of the South. We all see how Northern politicians ceaselessly harp on the South as if it's a sole political unit. Yet, when it comes to the rotation of the presidency, a desperation to choose from the South West becomes the norm, just as the core North, takes whatever that is due to the whole North in similar situations. This is not a coincidence, it's a well packaged political arrangement post 1966, that is programmed to sidetrack the present South East, South South and the middle belt from the power centers in the country. It's deliberate and ofcourse, evil..

This kind of political arrangement is conviniently easy to pepertuate, because the other two regions that are desperately trying to turn Nigerias democracy into a "you - loot - I - loot -democray", didn't have much hydro carbon at the period of both the independence and the war. They were in the torrid business of producing either their wretched cocoa or pest infested groundnuts. These two exports weren't enough to produce serious financial receipts necessary to subsidize the emerging "Owanbe and rankadede" hedonistic penchants.. Their military officers in power then, understood this and more or else nationalized the oil and gas industry in a manner that only accentuated greater kleptomania! Now that their time is quickly running out, and having been in power for over half a century, generating trillions of dollars with nothing but mud houses, brown roofs and Boko Haram to show for it, they are determined to orchestrate a new political arrangement that will permit their sons and cousins to ruin our lives the same way they did for the next century, through a political relay race between the north and the West. We have to refuse this..

Let's get this clear: At the series of constitutional conferences that led to the adoption of an independent constitution pre independence, the three groups that were at the table to represent the different regions were The South West, The North and The East! It was not the South and the North. There was a reason for this. Before the amalgamation of the South and the north by Lugard, the South came together through a merger that shifted the capital of Nigeria from Calabar to Lagos. Essentially, the British or other wannabe colonialists, never met any semblance of cultural or physical unity amongst the desperate groups that will later be forced together as "Southern Nigeria". Rather, that acronym came in to existence after a series of political concortions, distilled by some wayward colonialists. The unworkablility of such contraption, will later blow up in everybodys face, when Awolowo chose to be a tribal tin god, instead of a national stateman. His actions and vituperations, solidified ethnic animosities within the South and widened the divide between the then Eastern region and the Western region.

Events afterwards have proven that we are better that way. The West should approach Nigeria as South westerners, ditto the East. If there are needs for political collaborations to help achieve certain political goals, such should be done after negotiations between the different groups. The so called South is not like the North. In the North, you have one basic language with one major ethnic group and then the hordes of over marginalized minorities. But in the South, we have two major ethnic groups, well structured in the two different southern regions. They have their different languages, different religions, different approach to life and totally different in terms of their approach to politics. To ignore these and pretend like everybody is one , when one part of the South will easily join the North to commit a genocide in the East, is simply insane. If we have agreed on rotational presidency, then the presidency should rotate, atleast amongst the former Three regions or more, and not between two fake and dubious regions created by a bunch of overzealous tribal bimbos in power, whose stock in trade is to spin every political event to favor their nepotistic aspirations..

There's no such thing as 'Southern Nigeria'....certainly not one in the mould of a cohesive muslim Core North!

At the very least, there are FIVE regional blocks of interest in the south: Igbo, Yoruba, Ijaw, Akwa/Cross and others coalescing as a single unit!
