Abubakar Atiku, a PDP Presidential candidate, has condemned Deborah's murder occasioned by a mob earlier Today in Sokoto.

Below is his Tweet :

After series of backlash from commenters majorly suspected to be from the Northern region, Atiku has deleted his earlier tweet.

No wonder this man is not loved in the North.

Even Tambuwal, the governor of the state and a Presidential aspirant too hasn't spoken yet.

The reason for this is clear : This matter is a sensitive matter that can potentially put one's political career at risk because an opinion of condemnation on the perpetrators of this devilish act might be mistaken to mean you are anti-Islam.

That's why candidates like Osibanjo, Tinubu, Peter Obi, Amaechi, etc are silent. By commenting on the issue, you don't gain any political capital. Various commenters on the Twitter thread were even arrogantly saying Atiku has totally lost the Northern regions' vote for speaking up.

This is a very bold act by Atiku even though I don't like him one bit.

MODIFIED

The Tweet was ill-advised. He shouldn't have made it and I'm sure he regretted making the tweet since he deleted it barely 2 hours after posting. For this, I take back my commendation of him of taking the "bold act".

That Vice President disguising as a Pastor will NEVER condemn the killers too. It is as certain as death.

We all know this is a religious killing and it's very barbaric to say the least, but the only way the deceased can get justice is only if they'll treat it as a criminal case...

if they consider it as a religious killing I really doubt she'll get her deserved Justice especially there in the north!

How can this be a religion of peace

Nothing will happen to them, it's election year here in the North, no politicians can afford to be seen as fighting for justice for a Christian accused of insulting the prophet
Guy. You are fuççking right.

Atiku has deleted his Tweet.

Honestly, I didn't expect him to make that Tweet in the first place. He has endangered his political campaign and career. He has no good advisers.

cool

Peter Obi, Charles Soludo, Hope Uzodinma also stayed silent when ESN/UGM slaughtered two soldiers and sliced of the vagina of a woman

That's the kind of evil politics we play in Nigeria

Realistically, if you still want a political career in Nigeria, issues as sensitive as this Deborah's death, you just have to stay clear of it.

It doesn't mean you support it or anything but it can easily be misinterpreted to mean you sanction the ridiculing/criticism of Islam. That was the mistake Atiku made.
