Hi all, my mother lives in a 4 bedroom house and the thing is rent has increased after the covid pandemic here in the United States but she wants me out when she knows that I am still in grad school... And I'm scared of living alone and being lonely? So do you think my mother is being rationale in wanting me out instead of letting me stay since she has extra rooms? |

You will at a time leave your parent's home to start yours. Why not see this as opportunity to start early and master it. Perhaps it will lead to finding your partner if you don't have one already and the loneliness will be gone. By the way, who says you can't be lonely in your mother's house? 1 Like |

Parents and roommates would want you out of their house when you become a liability to them. Eating free food, enjoying the basic amenities in the house, dodging rent, contributing absolutely nothing in return for the comfort you're enjoying... etc. If you really want to stay there because you're not comfortable with living alone, then pay next months rent (over there rent is per month) and stock the refrigerator with groceries, if possible pay the gas and electricity bill as well. Do this and believe me, your mom would be the one begging you to stay, because you're no longer a liability but an asset to her. Good luck. 8 Likes |

mamagee3:You're not getting it. She's asking you to leave because of the high rent. Meaning she can still afford to pay the rent but asked you to leave cos she won't be paying such a high amount while you sit back and enjoy her free accommodation. Divide the amount of the rent and give her your own part of the money and she won't trouble you anymore. 2 Likes |
