I believe if you can book way ahead of time, you'll get it cheap... Also, don't do direct flight, flights with stopovers are cheaper

Nice tip. When traveling internationally, if you hear announcements asking for volunteers to get off the flight and take a later/different flight, volunteer if you can. Airlines pick up food/lodging costs, changes in flight costs, and give vouchers for free or next to free travel for your sacrifice. The airline will handle getting you to your destination.
