The British Computer Society (BCS) Higher Education Qualifications are a UK Honours Degree equivalent qualification. It is accredited by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation). They provide a route to postgraduate study at several UK Universities and full professional membership of BCS.

There are three levels of examination, which cover a wide range of IT topics.

1. Certificate in IT
This is the foundation level of BCS Higher Education Qualifications and is the academic equivalent to year 1 of a UK University honors degree. It is recognized by Ofqual as Level 4. There are three core course modules at this level; Information Systems, Computer and Network Technology, and Software Development.

2. Diploma in IT
The diploma in IT is the academic equivalent to Year 2 of a UK university honors degree and is recognized by ofqual as Level 5.

This qualification incorporates a PGD project and it is equivalent to a UK University honors degree and recognized by Ofqual as Level 6.

Candidates are to complete four-course modules and a project.
Successful completion of the highest level of BCS HEQ gives you a route to postgraduate study at several UK universities.
