The worst addictions to overcome ever are
1. Masturbation
2. Betting / gambling
3. Drug
4. Smoking/drinking
5. Womanizing ..

If you are able to overcome any of the above expecially the first 3, there’s nothing in this world that can bring you down ..

I used to bet around 2016-2018, I think I stopped February 2019..
Omo any small money like this , na to stake o,
Infact, It got to a point whereby I stick to 2odds,
I’ fit win in 3 roll then enter loosing streak for one month straight ….,
Betting is very bad that you will always see people who don’t bet as mumu , ironically you’re the mumu , living on false hope that you’ll turn dangote overnight ..
hahahaha

Am always surprised wen people boast of stopping what they started on there own
I do play bet but am never in anyway addicted to betting, I always bet whenever I hv enough cash to dispense, and I can't bet any amount I can't afford to loose,
It also depends on disciplining yourself and high self control.
Well people differs shaa

Evidence1000:
My addiction to playing virtual sports betting started off as a joke. I remember I used to go to different video game centers while I was in secondary school. I started going to game centers sometime in 2007. My father (of blessed memory) was against it then citing several reasons but I remained adamant. I remember how he used to punish/flog me then but I secretly went behind him and continued to play video games.

This continued for several months until a particular day I entered a video game center /bet shop. I remember seeing some numbers with decimals on the TV screen. My curiosity made me ask the

owner of the shop what it meant. He explained everything to me. I then decided to try what he explained even though I did not understand anything which he said.

I remember staking 100 naira and I won 350 naira in seconds. I couldn't believe it! To say that I was happy was an understatement. I ran off after collecting the money and spent it on unnecessary things.

I was just too happy that I had finally seen where I could make free and fast money anytime I wished. Oh! How wrong I was!

The following day, I went back there with more money. This time around, I didn't go there to play video games but I went with the sole intention of playing that thing I saw on the screen the previous day. I later found out that it is called virtual sports betting. I went with 500 naira with the hope of winning just like the previous day but surprisingly, I lost it in a flash. I couldn't believe my eyes!

This became the beginning of my woes

How old are you now

Evidence1000:
Little by little, I began to play constantly. Before I knew it, I was playing almost everyday. I played virtual till I left secondary school. I was able to fund my games then through the little money I stole from my parents and most times if they sent me on errands, I did not remit the change. I won't forget to mention that I starved myself several times in secondary school all because I wanted to use my lunch money to play virtual.

It was becoming a cancer in my life but I failed to realise it.
The first day I won 10,000 naira, it was as if heaven came down that day. I had just finished from secondary school then in 2012 and was seeking for admission into the University. To say that I was happy is an understatement. I bought "heaven and earth" on that day. The total sum I spent was about 4,000 naira and I saved the rest for betting the following day.

As expected, on the following day, after I woke up in the morning, I didn't even brush or take my bath; I ran to the bet shop to play virtual games. In a matter of minutes, I lost the remaining 6,000 naira and even incurred debts of about 3,000 naira. I failed to mention that when I won the 10,000 naira, people were all over me and called me their friend and brother but on the following day when I lost, all those people deserted me. I begged for money from those same people to pay my 'gbese' of 3k but everyone of them 'shenked' me. In the end, I had to forfeit my phone as there was no way for me to get such amount of money at that moment.

I went home feeling so down and dejected and swore to myself that I won't play virtual betting again. I didn't know that I was just deceiving myself. As a matter of fact, I can say that was the beginning of me going a level higher in playing virtual betting.
Omo, I'm reading your write-up and it's seems you were writing about me. I'm owing a debt of more than 60k because of this virtual betting. My brother sends me 10k every month and I've not use it to buy even one boxers. I did my freedom recently and the money people gave me all went on virtual betting.
I stopped this shit from June-december 2020 but came back worse. To be honest I'm really tired. My mom is hurting.

Evidence1000, I was in my own and they sent me an email that I have N200 bonus. I played 30 odds and won, withdrew the shit and waiting for the next free money to play with.

I WILL NEVER USE MY MONEY OR ANOTHER PERSON'S CASH TO PLAY BET, ONLY THE BONUS THE SEND ME. If I lose that one, then I have not really lost anything. That is responsible gambling.

I don't think they will ever send me bonus money again because I am a bad customer to them. They think they can get my money. Haha...NEVER!

Hello everyone. I remember opening a thread sometime in August 2020 about my addiction to sports betting and how it has finished me totally

https://www.nairaland.com/5996073/need-bet9ja-finished-life

The link is above.

I got so many comments and messages; both positive and negative. Some even messaged me privately with promises to follow my matter up. I discovered that the power to stop betting laid solely in my hands and I took action.

I sincerely want to thank everyone for their advice and suggestions. To the glory of God, I've overcome that addiction and I no longer play sports virtual betting anymore. There have been significant changes in my life.

I have also been able to offset my debts totally. The peace of mind I have these days cannot be explained. I remember I made mention of the face that I owed a particularll guy over a hundred thousand naira; I have been able to pay that debt wholly. I am at peace now with myself and my environment.

I have looked back and that is why I have decided to share my story and how I overcame this addiction.

I want to encourage as many as are passing through the same challenge. You will definitely overcome it as you follow my story.

The mods should please helpe push to front page as this will help a lot of people who are struggling at the moment.

Tired if this kind of trend.

Some are cashing out on it. If e no work for you, quit.

sorry I came late.

I have to say this nevertheless,
The best way to overcome an addiction is by replacing it with another addiction.

I am used to many addiction but gradually they're nearly all been replaced.

Tramadol=====Aspirin intake
Masturbation=== Try getting used to smoking and alcohol
Brothel and ashawo=== fall in love with football and spend most of your times at viewing cents
Addicted to porn===try having an up to date playlist of songs and try listening to them frequently.
Addicted to gamble=== start up a savings box or piggy vest and set a daily target
Addicted to phone and Internet==subscribe your cable TV and spend most of your Times watching movies.

Good luck

Even though I did this betting stuff before, it was never an addiction to me.

Sometimes at a point I would always want to bet on some games, after booking it with my phone, I won't still play it.

I don't really have this enthusiasm to play it, the very last thing I do again is discarding the idea of playing it.

When people talk about bet addiction, it always marvel me.
Sports betting differs.

I know my limits and when I start losing I log out immediately.. they understood most of us are greedy and that's why many keep lossin.
Bro, can you relay the code to me? possibly privately. Let me try something. Whatsapp no: 07031226786. Thanks

big fat lie from the pit of hell. Self determination and self-control is all that matters. I was once a very big addict but today I don't do it no more, if you like win 1 trillion I won't move. You don't know the peace of mind that comes with abstaining from gambling.

Gatekeepers:
There are three legitimate ways to get money. First, you can work for it. (II Thessalonians 3:10) Second, you can make money through wise investments. (Luke 19:1-27) Third, you can receive a gift or an inheritance. (II Corinthians 12:14) There is no fourth category.

So betting no be work oo, because you only hopes to make money without working at all. Betting is not an investment, because you only creates an artificial risk hoping to make easy money. Bettingng is not a gift, because the money is won from the losers, not given as a gift.

We have to ask God to teach us contentment with what we already have.

Do you really believe that God will take care of all your needs all the time? If the answer is yes, then you don’t need to help him out by gambling. If the answer is no, then your problems is bigger than that of a gambler with his ticket!

God bless you.
