Because most Nigerian ladies have daddy issues. Should you not be going to church or doing something like resting , laundry or even watching the news?

Just like you asking why the students in most public schools call their teachers; "Mummy" and "Daddy".
Reverence and respect.

Because he is either a sugar daddy figure to some and a father figure to others

Its a respect thing..., people call random older men thats not their father daddy all the time even though they are not pastors...
But it isn't as random as how several young ladies in many churches call their pastors "Daddy" nowadays

You begin to think the real pastors names are daddies unless you asked of his or her names of their pastors tongue

The answer is quite simple.

Some Christians claim that Jesus is the bible he instructs christians not to call anyone father.

Matthew 23:8-10, Jesus is speaking to the multitudes and the disciples and tells them to not call anyone on Earth "father" because there is only one Father Who is in Heaven, and don't be called Rabbi because only Christ is our teacher.

Poorly educated protestants usually attack roman catholics with this passages because Catholics call preachers father.

So they call their own preachers daddy or daddy GO so as not to call that pastor father.
Which means exactly the same thing grin

However in actual sense what I believe Jesus was trying to instruct here is that no follower of his should accord another human the kind of respect or reverence you are meant to give God the father.
However we now see Christains especially the protestants in African churches revering their pastors as if they are gods.

Oh the irony

Thank you bro!, In either ways both people calling father oo and the ones calling daddy are going contrary to what the bible teaches, human being just like to do that thing they are told not to do.

It's a form of respect gone bad.

Same way some Jews used Kurios as a form of respect for Jesus. This has now being translated to Lord now.

Respect gone bad!

It's not about being older. There are many young Pastors, people still call Daddy.

However, I think this has to do with Mentality.

More like they like to worship men more than God, this in ignorance of God's own declaration that cursed is any man who puts his trust in another man..... Jeremiah 17 vs 5. undecided

1. That isn't a claim. It is as you quoted. Jesus Christ commanded His followers to call no man father because they have one Father Heaven - Matthew 23 vs 8 - 10. So when Jesus Christ spoke of those in God's family, He mentioned those who do the Will of God as His Mothers, brothers, sisters, but mentioned none as Father this since there is only one Father over all those who belong to God - Matthew 13 vs 50 undecided

2. Well, the Churchians are just as ignorant as their Catholic counterparts in that. undecided

3. So you think instead God misspoke, yet again ? undecided

No one should...

I have seem some obviously younger pastor forming daddy to people that are old enough to be their parents. They seem to depict some form of pride or should I say arrogance. Well, whatever anyone chooses to call their pastor is totally their business though

Pastors are our true Fathers in Spirit.

If we do not obey them they can kill us in this life and in hellfire.

The power of a pastor over a man is great indeed.

Fear them.

Jesus had a habit of speaking in PARABLES, METAPHORS AND ALLEGORIES. He also used hyperpoles.
His lessons has stayed relevant because of this.
It takes nothing more than common sense to understand him... But unfortunately it seems people lack that these days

1. Jesus also spoke plainly to His followers. So? undecided

2. Wrong! His message remains relevant because way He gave is Law - with a total of about 100 commandments to live by- as far as the Kingdom of God is concerned. Heaven and earth will pass away but not a jot of God's Law will. undecided

3. According to Jesus Christ, it takes action on your part, not what you refer to as commonsense, to understand the Kingdom of God - Matthew 13 vs 12 & Matthew 25 vs 29 undecided
