Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has said that the people of the state are eager to see the commencement of activities at the Baro Seaport.

The Governor stated this when he alongside officials and delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state,  received his Ekiti State counterpart, Chairman Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and presidential aspirant of the party, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi at the Government House Minna.

Governor Sani Bello who decried over lack of maintenance which has caused so much setbacks for the nation, stressed that the Baro seaport if fully operational, would not only benefit Niger State but the Northern Nigeria and the entire Nation by extension.

"We are very eager to see activities taking place at the Baro Seaport not just for Niger State but Northern Nigeria", he said.

He described Governor Kayode Fayemi as a friend and brother pointing out that he has related very well with him and that he was among the three of his colleagues who supported him during the darkest days of the party at the National level.

The Governor who said the presidential aspirant had touched areas that are really affecting the state, enjoined delegates to consult with members of their communities and take a stand.

He emphasized that he has taken a decision long ago not to interfere in any Congress or election and desires to maintain his position.

"I have never interfered in any Congress or local government elections. I allow people to think for themselves and decide on the way forward and that I will maintain", he stressed.

Addressing the delegates, Dr. Fayemi explained that he had come to share his vision with the delegates and to allow them place it side by side with other visions so as to make an informed decision on the basis of capacity, competence, education, integrity, compassion for the people and courage to do the right thing.

Dr. Fayemi observed that the nation requires national cohesion as a basis for national security as many have lost faith in the country due to insecurity.

He said Niger State has been at the receiving end largely due to its size and that he is aware of the efforts of the Governor to stem the tide of insecurity in the state.

The Chairman NGF said if given the mandate, he will recruit more security personnel, pay more attention to intelligence and technology to fight insecurity in the country.

He said delibrate efforts were needed to provide opportunities for the people so as to address poverty and inequality in the country which he said are responsible for some of the challenges facing the nation.

The Presidential aspirant who promised to run an all inclusive government if he becomes the president, also assured that Niger State will have no better ally than him.

Dr. Fayemi further highlighted some of his plans for Nigeria to be; decentralization of power, reward system for party members, improved Agricultural activities by providing security to farmers among others.

He maintained he believes in Nigeria as a project saying "we can remake the nation without unmaking it."

Speaking earlier, the leader of the campaign team, Sen. Lawal Shuaibu commended the Governor for his leadership style and humility.

Senator Lawal then appealed to delegates in the state to ensure that they vote Dr. Fayemi as Nigeria needs a young and intelligent man with a revolutionary idea to actively tackle all the challenges bedevilling the nation.

He urged the delegates to think deeply about the future of the country and go for the person that has the wherewithal to move the nation to greatness.

The leader of the team reminded the delegates that in a democratic setting, power lies at the bottom, hence they should use it wisely.
