Pls I need your advice and recommendations.

I want to delve into programming world but as it is it seems I am totally confused about where to start from.

I have passion and interest in data science and software Engineering. However I don't know which programming to take.


So please I need your recommendation on which programming I should start with/take and if possible you can direct me to some materials I would appreciate.

Straddle both. Learn the fundamentals of Programming using Python. When you decide, you can swing to either. Be advised though that Data Science goes way beyond just know how to analyze and crunch data and display fancy dashboards. I used to be a huge proponent of people getting into Data Science but I have now reviewed my position. Only go into DS if you have an absolute love for it. I mean In depth undying love. And often a first indicator of that for me would be a love for stats beyond just school work. Have you asked your self if there is a correlation between the number of days the sun shine and how many okadas are out on the road? Or if there’s a correlation between number of failed traffic lights and volume of cars on the road?

How about you take a general computer science course that covers the basics of almost everything after that you can choose which to focus on based on what you like and dislike

I am recommending starting with html and css. It's only a roadmap before delving deep. On the contrary, most high-level programming languages you can use for software development or data science are object-oriented. An example is Python. So you could start with python for data science and even software or decide to go the JavaScript way. Either way choose the one you find interesting. You can achieve this by referencing and contrasting both syntaxes.

Chillax... I never mentioned they were programming languages. Did I?


I only simply recommended learning those two.

I need not say much. I've been tired of all the html and css notions. Of course... they are not programming languages because they actually work to structure and style webpages. What then is considered programming language? functions, variables, loops etc are typical of 'programming languages'

I cannot even program in Python and to be honest, I hate it because it is a loosely/dynamically typed PL. But it is the primary language used in most entry level University programming courses. And is widely used in Data Analytics
