The results of the 2022 JAMB UTME examinations has been released and candidates have started knowing their stand as regards gaining admission into any tertiary institution in Nigeria.
The main purpose of writing this article is to enlighten candidates who might have chosen or want to change to UNILAG as their choice institution.
Every year, the University of Lagos always come out with large number of aspirants jostling for limited number of admission slots and to withstand this competition, it is necessary for candidates to do everything possible in order to be among those that will finally be granted admission.
The general cutoff mark for the institition is 200 meaning if you have a JAMB score of 200 and above, you can apply for the school's post UTME exercise. Though the general cutoff mark is 200, but it varies across various course of study. For example, a student aspiring to study Medicine and Surgery, must have a JAMB score of 300+ to stand a chance of being admitted as a JAMB score of 200 will not be enough for that course.
Apart from the general cut off mark, the institution gives admission based on departmental cut off mark. Each departments or course of study had its own cut off mark which is calculated based on your JAMB score, O'level Result and Post UTME score. The JAMB score takes 50%, the O'level Result takes 20% and Post UTME result takes 30% all making up a total of 100%.
The 50% mark allocated to your JAMB result is calculated by dividing your JAMB score by 8
The 20% mark allocated to O'level Result is calculated by taking five (5) compulsory subjects that are requirements for your course of study including Mathematics and English Language.
The 30% mark makes up your Post UTME examination.

POST UTME EXAMINATION
The Post UTME examination consists of a total of 40 questions to be taken from Mathematics, English Language and General Paper. The examination duration is thirty (30) minutes.
The General Paper consists of questions pertaining to the institution, current affairs (Nigeria and Foreign), science, arts and other fields.
It is advisable to get a Past question that will help you get familiar with Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS) and format of the Post UTME examination. Message the number on the flyer to get one.
