Examination Malpractice In Schools: Who is the Loser. by GERANWAOLE1988(m): 11:29am On May 30, 2022
Examination malpractice has fast become a must and a way to go in most external examinations in Nigeria's secondary schools. It has become a prevailing culture amongst secondary school students, teachers, parents and the general public. As most external examinations are ongoing, the rate at which examination irregularities are adopted, upgraded and modified in schools including the so called Mission Schools are better imagined.
The events and situations are such that while the candidates for these exams are busy looking up for already solved answers in the various WhatsApp platforms in their phones, perhaps after paying some agreed amount of money, teachers are equally busy sourcing, gathering, solving and sharing answers to students.
My questions are, Who is cheating who? What is the need for teaching and learning? Why would parents send their wards/children, pay fees and others? What is actually happening? Where are we heading to? Would this evil ever stop in our schools or is everyone living in pretence?
I think something has to be done urgently because if examination malpractice doesn't stop, education system and teachers would be losers. I might be right because most parents currently takes school teaching and learning unseriously and sooner than later they may decide to engage their children into trade, apprenticeship or other meaningful activities with the intention to save up money to register them for external examinations when they feel.
Friends in Nairaland, what do your make of this? What are your takes?
