Lagos State Police Command @LagosPoliceng

JUNE 1 MOTORCYCLE BAN ENFORCEMENT: NO CAUSE FOR ALARM

The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to a panic-laced message making the rounds on social media purporting that motorcycle riders in the state have concluded plans to disrupt social and commercial activities in Lagos State from June 1, 2022 in protest of the ban on the use of motorcycles within six LGAs in Lagos State.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, psc, mnim uses this medium to assure all Lagosians that all necessary human, material and operational resources have been deployed across the state to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

A carefully drafted security architecture, resulting from a detailed crime-mapping of the state has been emplaced across the length and breadth of the state. In addition, all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders have been placed on red alert towards any eventuality.

CP Alabi, therefore, enjoins all residents of Lagos State to go about their lawful businesses without fear of harassment or intimidation before, during and after the touted date for the purported civil disturbance, as officers and men of the Command are fully on top of the situation.

SP BENJAMIN HUNDEYIN, anipr, mipra
Police Public Relations Officer,
Lagos State Command,

The Lagos State Government

GOVERNMENT DISMISSES ANXIETY OVER OKADA BAN

The Lagos State Government has noted the anxiety that has followed the planned enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles in six local government areas as from June 1. The local governments are: Surulere, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Apapa, Eti-Osa and Ikeja.

The law enforcement agencies went on a roadshow today to assure the public that the ban, which was announced by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on May 18, after a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, will be enforced without any compromise.

There is no need for any anxiety over the enforcement of the ban, which has been hailed by the majority of Lagosians as a reinforcement of the Lagos Traffic Law 2012 (amended in 2018).

The Government wishes to advise all law-abiding citizens to go about their businesses without any fear whatsoever as measures have been put in place to forestall any disturbance. Lagosians and visitors are urged to co-operate with the law enforcement agencies in our collective interest.

Okada riding shouldn't be considered as a means of livelihood if the economy is working in the first place.

We move. Apapa, wharf, tinca, berger workers will hear am. Lagos state government suppose do something about trailers blocking the roads in that area before they included that place to join ban. That place na hell when it comes to holdup, and it can give these hoodlums chance to be robbing motorist people during serious holdup due to lack of security.

The poor and average always suffer any governmental policy and I don't know why..

It is not as if there's a plan B solution to it..

I visited a public school the other day and I wept at the deplorable state of buildings and learning structure of the school..

Banning of okada here and there is nothing compared to banning of bad roads, epileptic power supply, vote buying, banning of problem of civil servants' payments, to mention a few..

Thank God I'm not Igbo(don't reason like them), I woulda said the government is banning okada because they're mostly northerners doing the business...

Lagos is a non man's land. Lagos originally belong to the Ijaws and Binis. Yorubas in Lagos migrated there from elsewhere. A good example is Tinupoo who come from Iragbiji in Osun.

There was this type of ban in July 1 2020. That day my DISPATCH BIKE was collected at Ajegunle Police station by one officer Musa and Lawal. The same bike was sold to one "pick up" man in my presence.

I Don't understand, doesn't the reasons for banning them(okadas) hold in the unbanned Local governments.. I think this is selective justice.. now u want to concentrate the unbanned LGs with Okadas ..

Lagos is over rated

Touts have been incorporated into the security architecture of Lagos state

When I was in Lagos a hoodlum stopped me and asked me where I was coming from, from his mannerism, speech, dressing, poorly drawn locally made tattoos it was very clear to me this is a tout

As a PH boy I thought he wanted to obtain me so I lock up, prepared myself mentally and physically for confrontation, PH boy will not fall hands, only to find out he was actually security for the area

I was shocked, I apologized for resistance and weighing him he understood.

It’s a good idea to engage the youths, it’s a good idea to incorporate everybody. But I have some concerns.

What happens after now?

1. Let’s assume someone like Tinubu is no more who takes over as their national leader to call them to order?

2. What happens if a less gentlemanly tout becomes their national leader and decides to let them run wild

3. What signal are you sending to the normal youths like me who are fit to wreck havoc based on size, mind, experiences etc but just decide on our own that that is not the part we want to follow in life

If you say you are only incorporating and rewarding only touts and hoodlums, are you saying we should all become touts and hoodlums?

Today if you look at the leadership in Lagos you can see posters of known touts, they are in the top 3 of almost every government parastatal it’s as if they even have quota. And then the remaining 2 out of the 3 are Wives and children of these “big men” like Tinubu, Lie Mohammed and co.

Lagos people what happens to Lagos when Jagaban dies and MC Oloumo and co. Start to fight for leadership?

This is a serious gamble oh, I wish you all well.

At the risk of sounding elitist, I propose that that okada of a thing be banned nationwide. They've caused more harm than good. From robberies, to kidnapping, to criminal surveillance, to their reckless driving which endangers other road users.

At first you'll think it's impossible to commute without them, but then, humans adapt, we'll adapt and find a good replacement for them.

Thought they were blackmailing Sanwooulu with their votes .

So because Tinubu has seen the hand writing on the wall that all looted lagos funds he has been splashing on the North is not yielding fruit he's now on a vendetta via Sanwo Olu to punish the Northerners that drive okada in lagos grin

How low can a yoruba god go angry
