As Bola Ahmed Tinubu just emerged the presidential flag bearer for the ruling All progressive Congress, the following factors are likely to affect his victory in the general election come 2023;

1. AGE. Though he claims to be 70, but by the look on his physiology, Bola Ahmed Tinubu looks more like an octagenarian as he couldn't gallantly mount the podium when invited to make a speech at the venue of the convention/primaries. Nigerians desire a man of sound health and younger age as president.

2. RELIGION. Tinubu being a Muslim from the south must pick his running mate from the north. I don't see the possibility of a Christian northerner enjoying wide support amongst fellow northerners as 95% of them are Muslims. Therefore, a Muslim/Christian ticket might not work out for him and picking a Muslim as his running mate from the north will be widely rejected by the christians.

3. ACCEPTABILITY AMONGST THE SOUTHERNERS.
Apart from the south west where Tinubu will win with a wider margin, I am yet to see his acceptability in other parts of the south. For instance in the south east, he didn't come for consultation prior to the concluded primaries where he emerged winner and that would be hold against him by the people of the southeast who are already showing signs of injustice as their leaders said it's their turn to produce the next president. Secondly, I don't see a structure for him in the South south, where PDP is in charge of almost all the states.

4. ATIKU/NORTHERN HUNGER FOR POWER.
Anyone who understands Nigerian politics and election should know that the Northerners especially the Hausa/Fulani don't really vote candidates based on party, but based on tribe and religion. In as much as Tinubu might have some Northern affiliates, as long as their kinsman (Atiku) is in the race, they will vote en mass for him in the general election.

So with these aforestated points, I don't see Tinubu winning the general election.
