The Real Reason Why Your Phone Doesn't Support Efootball by atheistandproud(m): 6:39pm On Jun 08, 2022
Inquisitive Universe:
Good evening all, I said I'll show up to talk about why some phones support PES and others do not.

So I'll divided the talk into two parts:

I'll do the bulk of it today and finish up tomorrow.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaMFxziDk3Y

Most of the things I'm going to say are already well known by the big men here as well as anyone else who's been in this group since January.

I find it funny that the people who used to go out of their way to fight me both on Facebook and Nairaland have disappeared into their holes. Especially when eFootball popped.

The folks who said specs are not important. Go and buy the phone and test first. That crew. They've all disappeared.

Are specs important now? Ehn marketers?

iOS devices like iPads, iPods and iPhones are very straightforward to understand as clearly stated on the screenshot.

Android on the other hand is not.

Why?

This is because Android is a jumbled mess of different parts from different manufacturers that are cobbled up together into one device.

Let's take my Redmi Note 9 Pro for example.

The SoC made by Snapdragon with blueprint from ARM. The RAM is made by Samsung, the LCD display is made by Tianma, software from Google, cameras by Samsung and OmniVision etc.

All of these different components were put together by Xiaomi to give us the Redmi Note 9 Pro.

So when it comes to android, there's no universal rule book to use. Lots of people talk about android as if they're referring to a singular entity which is wrong.

Android is not a phone. It is the largest operating system by user count in the world today.

And if you don't look it closely, you won't understand it.

It's not as simple as "my friend's android is playing this game why is my own not playing it? My own must play it, give me a magic solution.

After all android na android."

It is very sad that too many people have this really closed mindset, so much so that they're unteachable.

Even two Android devices from the same company will behave very different. This is especially true for all those Samsung people.

The ones that are willing to go and buy Samsung A02 because Samsung is above every other android. Then they'll be wondering why their phone doesn't support eFootball.

The Samsung S series and the A series are two very different entities.

The Redmi Note * pro and the regular Redmi and Redmi Note devices are very different things.

So why do people make these somewhat silly mistakes?

Because of a glorification of ignorance. Knowledge doesn't matter. Especially when ignorant mobs gather and make fun of the person trying to tell them facts.

I don't want to go too deep into all that.

But the takeaway is that specs are the fundamental information about any device.

It is this information that will let you know what the devices can or cannot do.

In this case let's look at PES and the requirements that they brought for Android.

Software: Android 7.0 or above

Memory: 2GB or above

CPU: ARM based quad core or above

Clock speed: 1.5GHz or above

GPU:

These are the specs that Konami have put out and when I saw them, I laughed.

Why?

Because these are the same specs that Tencent put out for PUBG 4 years ago.

The only difference being that the android version was 5.0 minimum and clock speed was 1.3GHz minimum.

I raised the issue on Reddit and Nairaland but as usual nobody paid any attention. It was only on the blog that people started asking...

Would phone a support the game?

Would phone b support the game?

Would phone c support the game?

And I answered as best as I could.

The rest people simply didn't care. Their phones met the minimum requirements.

Then the game dropped and we started seeing message like...

My phone met the minimum requirements, but it doesn't work. Somebody help.

At this point, I was vindicated that the so called requirements were a scam and truly undersold the needed parameters that a phone would need to run PES.

Funnily enough, if you check the bottom of the screenshot, there's a disclaimer there that many people failed to read.

So it would be easy for me to come and just tell you that phone A will support but phone B will not support.

That's what a lot of people are expecting but I would not be doing you a lot of good if I did that.

Not at all.

I want you to know the reason behind these things and then give you the tools to figure it out all by yourself even without my input.

In this whole mess of people feeling cheated and very angry.

I'd like to say the following. Konami doesn't hate Android and Android is not a phone.

The problem is that eFootball is a shrunken down version of the console/PC game.

It is huge. About 3.3GB.

As a result, it needs a lot of power to be able to process it.

And the part of your phone that processes data is the SoC. The system on a chip.

The system on a chip is what we call the processor. The proper name is actually a smartphone SoC or system on a chip.

The SoC is named that way because it is an entire system. It contains an entire system of CPUs that helps a phone carry out it's tasks

The main parts of an SoC that are strongly related to gaming are the main CPU cores and the GPU.

The CPU installs, loads and processes the apps and games. The GPU is what displays the graphics on the screen.

If the CPUs are weak, they will be unable to run the game correctly. In fact in many cases, they will be unable to install the game.

We've seen this practically with PES.

This is not just about PES but also other games like PUBG mobile for example or call of duty or Fortnite.

Even Apex legends sef won't work if the CPUs or GPUs are not up to the task.

Even if the CPUs were able to handle the task and could install the game, if the GPUs are not powerful enough to render graphics, there'll be problems as well.

I'll never forget that app called GFX tool.

That app helped me downgrade PUBG Graphics to the level that my PowerVR GE8100 on the Tecno Pouvoir 2 could play.

So like I said SoC is the main computing hub on a smartphone that processes data especially for games.

The main parts are the CPUs and the GPU.

CPU strength is easy to understand.

Very easy.

Starting from the weakest, we have

A7, A9

A53, A55

A72, A73, A75, A76, A77, A78, X1

A510, A710, X2

Anything below A53 will struggle to play PES.

Why?

Because these CPUs are old and weak. They are not equipped to handle the load that the eFootball brings.

Some of you may be getting lost at this point and start thinking "I don't understand this thing oh".

So this is the main reason why many phones are unable to run PES or eFootball. This is because they use ARM Cortex A53 CPUs that are weak.

Now there are some exceptions to this rule.

Only a very few ARM Cortex A53 CPUs that are clocked over 2.0GHz will run the game but only for now.

Phones like Nokia 3.4 with Snapdragon 460 or Infinix Hot 10i are able to run the game due to their superior SoCs.

So if you take a look at the the CPUs in use here, you can see very well that they A73 for the Nokia 3.4 and A75 for the Hot 10i.

So this is where I pack the bus for this evening.

I'll be back to conclude tomorrow.

Leave comments and feedback lemme know where you understood or didn't understand.

Thank you for coming and good evening.

true, but anything with only cortex a53 core is shitty and will struggle to run anything.

Moreover you saying android is a mess because they use different part from different manufacturers is nonsense.
That's the same with Apple and all computing devices, smartphone, computers.

Apple also use ARM'S architecture, their camera are produced by different company, screen too.

closes eyes and breathes in

First of all, wrong use of the word "but". You really should learn how to use interjections correctly because you have said nothing new.

Secondly, Apple uses custom cores based or ARM's arch. If you understood what that means, you would not wake up this morning and type nonsense on someone else's post.

Apple executes very tight control over their production process. Yes, the Apple do not produce their own cameras and only recently did they begin to use displays from Samsung.

Did you care to mention how Apple makes these companies write the firmware to run smoothly with iOS? or how Apple builds it's own software top to bottom?

Did you care to mention how Apple builds it's own SoCs from customs cores in-house so much so that their SoCs behave very differently from other ARM based SoCs?

No. You could only mention camera and display and all of a sudden, you have the temerity to call what someone else researched and wrote nonsense?

With halfbaked knowledge. Only on Nairaland sha.

There's really nothing wrong with the Adreno 618. It's at the perfect level to complement the A76 cores on the SD732G.

If you think SD732G is awesome, wait till you handle a phone using Cortex A78 CPUs like the Poco F3 with the SD870....

This is why the Nigerians will continue to fail IELTS because of a lack of English comprehension. Simple comprehension.

A post about SPECS.

Premise A: Apple oversees the entire process of making their phones so their SPECS ARE EASIER to understand.

Premise B: Android OEMs on the other hand source parts from very different manufacturers and put them together. Thus their SPECS ARE HARDER to understand.

Conclusion from a Nigerian: So we should go and buy iPhone?

Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful. I cannot cry at this point so I'll laugh.

See, if all you gained from the entire article is that quoted comment above then I see no reason to continue engaging you.

Mind you, the device doesn't hang as I can still drag the notification bar effortlessly but the game just freezes or other times, the game crashes like when I was playing FIFA, it will just go home by itself. When friends come to meet me to ask which Samsung device to get I always tell them "if you have the money please avoid the A series and get the S series" it might be more expensive but it's worth it. To me getting the A series is like throwing your money in a trash can. The A series is needlessly Expensive! and their processors are weak at least for that price. Though they have good batteries and Camera sha which are things I don't even give a fùck about.

When friends come to meet me to ask which Samsung device to get I always tell them "if you have the money please avoid the A series and get the S series" it might be more expensive but it's worth it. Because it's a flagship with a mad processor unlike all these entry level Helio A20 or A25 phones that people are buying.
