The Nigerian poultry industry comprises approximately 180 million birds and produces 300 million tons of meat. Yet, local production only meets 30% of the demand for chicken meat, so there is plenty of room for growth in the industry. Some of the reasons why we don't meet the demand is because we do not have enough facilities to preserve the birds, which is a loss for poultry farmers.
