Habitual Lateness And Absenteeism Compared by Gidagreen(m): 8:42am On Jun 10, 2022
It's a government work where there is always no tideous activities. No matter how prepared and dedicated that you try to be everyday, you won't find your self too busy. The work load is very light. So it create room for absenteeism and lateness without any damaging effect to production activities at the end of the day. And of course this organization is very important to the public as well as this branch but it is located in a remote area where there is no much patronage.

Now, the issue is, there are some set of workers who comes to work thrice a week including the senior officers who are expected to coordinate, direct and motivate others but they are also guilty of absenteeism.

The argument is about two particular workers among them who will definitely come to work everyday but are usually arrived late to work. Which is preferable? and which can be considered to be productive among the two abnormal attitude to work?

Absenteeism refers to an employee's habitual absence from work, usually intentional and without any good reason.
Some of the main reasons for absenteeism include workplace harassment, family-related issues, illness, and job hunting.
But the negative is that : Absenteeism can have a significant impact on a company, including lost productivity, increased overtime costs, and elevated stress among the employees left to pick up the slack.

I believe automation will cure these ailments of lateness and absenteeism at work in all willing organizations.

HERE'S HOW I THINK IT WILL WORK:
1. An internet enabled device for checking in and out through thumb printing.
2. The device will send data to an automated backend to mark the person present or absent for the day.
3. The backend artificial intelligence machine will calculate the estimated salary for the worker based on programmed instructions. This will be uneditable by the way..

None of them is considered productive to any organisation...

It should be encouraged often to always frown at attitudes such as the highlighted....Else the death of such organisation is inevitable ....

Better late than never. Although I see no reason why the use of modern automated facilities should not be used in an era as this, it would totally get rid of lateness and absenteeism.

Yes ooo.

But wait, are expecting these people to be 100% dedicated when they are paid peanuts? Our reward system is poor and can not guarantee dedication. These people will always look for other engagement to make money, else they won't be able to feed 3 times a day.

Imagine a police man with wife and 2 or 3 children paid 40,000 naira a month and you expect him to not take bribe?

Go and read the book''thirty percent does the work for seventy percent''. Check every organisation including the one you work for,you will see this theory at work. Some will say ''dem nor dey carry government work for head o,na shoulder dem dey put am o''It's prevalent in all sectors of the economy,in some public schools, mathematics and english language teahers comes to school only once a week in so far they settle the head teacher.Nigerians need to change their values.

Both are not productive.
Habitual lateness is coming late to work regularly while Absenteeism is not showing up at all, but modern HR sees Absenteeism as resuming work early and closing work as stipulated by the organisations rules without getting results i.e you could resume work before 8am and leave 4pm because that's the official working hours but your entire stay at work is not productive, you're present at work physically based on the rules and regulations of the organization but you mind if far away from work without achieving any result for the day which will affect productivity.
