JACLIZ NIGERIA LIMITED is hiring an experienced procurement engineer to take our business to new heights. If you have experience evaluating supplies and negotiating with vendors and you have extensive knowledge of the equipment, materials, and supplies used in our industry, you might be a great fit as a procurement engineer in our company.

JOB PROFILE: PROCUREMENT ENGINEER

The procurement engineer oversees the purchase of technical equipment for the organization’s industrial operations, analyzes technical and commercial data based on the responses received, re-iterates with bidders, recommending those most desirable using tools like bid comparison tables/ BOQs. On approval, the procurement engineer issues the purchase order, tracks and expedites the supply, and handles inspection and delivery to the site. The procurement engineer also assists in supplier-site coordination for site handling, storage installation and commissioning.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:

• Analyze technical data and specifications to determine the equipment needed for projects

• Identification of all requirements in requisition for purchase issued by the design department

• Maintain the BOQ with updates from suppliers until after awarding the contract
Receiving the price quotations (competitive quotes)

• Prepare schedule of comparison

•Reiterate with designers and suppliers for finalization of quantity and quality

• Establish delivery terms, time and stages of inspection for the supply with the project management team

• Ensure that all potential suppliers are provided with identical information upon which the quotations are given equal opportunity to meet the desired requirements

• Devise, implement and oversee procurement strategies to meet cost savings targets

• Negotiate the best payment terms and contract conditions, maintaining high level of integrity

• Ensure that purchases comply with commercial, legal and contractual obligations

• Keep accurate records to justify the process and any other related decisions made in this regard

• Issuance of Purchase order

• Tracking and expediting of shipment

• Handle Delivery and inspection of items. Assist in Insurance claims, if any

• Storage and handling on-site, before use, during installation and commissioning and closure of any surplus/defective materials after the completion of the project

• Client acceptance/rejection, warranties and other related follow-up matters with the supplier till completion of the project

• Keep updated with market developments and assist in vendor development

• Regularly train on company development programs

• Report on budget versus Actual performance on a project-wise basis

• Arrange and participate in meetings between suppliers and company engineers and other personnel to facilitate standardization and economical procurement

• Assist tendering and costing department as required

SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU MUST POSSESS:

• Able to analyze technical documents and specifications to understand critical requirements

• Strong project management skills

• High-level verbal and written communication skills

• Proficiency with office software, specifically Microsoft Excel or similar programs

• Influencing and negotiating skills

• Critical thinking and problem-solving ability
Knowledge of global markets

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• B.Sc degree in engineering or related discipline

• Minimum 3 years of experience

• Good interpersonal and training skills

• Provide technical support and assist in the resolution of manufacturing problems as required
