It is a bad advice. 70% of the people I know that started this way quitted programming their second week into Javascript, after a lot of time learning HTML and CSS. Well, like 15% actually quitted while learning CSS. I think the best way to start learning programming is to begin from a real programing language. There are lots of beginner-friendly languages to start learning with. I started with python , and even though I've not used it for my works other than dsa, the knowledge gained while learning python really helped me to grasp the other things I learnt after easily. Of course easily wasn't easily, but at least, the toughness was easier to contain.
So people who are trying to switch career into programming world should best be informed to start with a programming language, favorably Javascript or Python, grab the basics and from there, their career path will start getting revealed to them.

You cant start teaching a newbie to program with javascript what are you saying?..its too technical...people start teaching with html and css because it's the building block of web design...javascript is to add functions to your web design...you dont start with more technical parts that is so wrong...if you dont know theres what they call backend of a website....you have to be taught the basics of a website frontend website before moving to backend development which is where python comes in.

Agreed...but you cant just teach a newbie js just like that...its too technical...that's why they start with pseudo codes first

You can't build something tangible on nothing.
HTML , CSS , JS & PHP are the foundation of web programming.

Just as Java is the foundation of mobile programming.
However, you don't need to learn every language to "communicate". The ultimate goal is to achieve your result.
Also, there are different ways of getting things done.

Nonetheless, if you have a good grasp of this foundational languages, you won't fret when it's time to upgrade your knowledge with a new language.

It depends.

If you're going into web development then that's the right path to follow.

It's like you saying one shouldn't start from. JSS1 BEFORE heading to SS3.

If you're learning programming for something else other than web development then you can start with a real programming language instead mark-up or styling language

If they want to go into web design then yes!

bro, I used that as an example. one can actually learn j.s first, but tell yourself the truth, how u wan take start to learn or apply most j.s course wey require html and css knowledge? wetti be the definition and function of JavaScript self without webpage? those wey start to j.s first go still give up if them wan give up.

Your submission is wrong. Programming isn't MMM. I assume the 70% are part of the majority that want to start making money asap but realize that they need to study their way up. Programming requires dedication and perseverance. My baby codder who started the journey last year November has been working 2 jobs since April. If you cannot learn continuously, then programming is not for you.
Another hindrance could be mentorship. It is very easy for anyone without a mentor to failout of programming. Hence I always advise people to look for a mentor when starting the journey. This could be a free or paid mentorship. But it worth it.

Maybe they should learn about how computer works first. Then they can go programming from there.

Programming has various sub branches, if the person intends to develop for the web as a platform then css and html is a must bit if going into other branches or platforms then html and css are not needed.
