Firstly you start sounding like them then you will fine tune it to sound different from the rest

Well when you put it like that it's not really about the type of instrument played it's more about the persons sound and what type of instrument is needed at that moment, I agree with you that most musician can derive their melody from playing any of those two instruments you mentioned up there, while for some it's different, that's why music is a universal language.

You can derive your melody from any sound that roams this earth as long it's makes your music come to live, take for example for people that make beats, I have a producer that makes beats out of common sounds, for e.g (a car horn, sound of a moving Vehicle, symbols, sounds that are created from the mouth too and etc..... and he doesn't even know how to play the basic music instruments you and I know but gets his melody from those I just mentioned.

So when it comes to making music or creating sounds you should think outside the boxs and try to derive melody from anything or instrument that comes as a form of inspiration to you depending on what your sound is like and what's needed for the sound to become whole, try not to focus all your attention on one thing that brings that melody to you because even your best musician on a normal day finds it difficult to come up with any form of inspiration from what gives them melody and inspiration when making music, that's what we call a off day and it happens to the best of them out there, so many people don't know this, that's why when you see your favs dropping a track that is below your expectations you might think the track is bullshit and not good enough, lol normally everybody dey talk am and it's normal, so try to be diverse when making music keep an open mind don't just believe in one form of melody.

Make I shock you, most of the hit songs you dey hear from all these artists, if them tell you say na songs wey be say it wasn't even that serious on both the production and creating process you no go like believe am, songs wey Dem even take time create sef dey even turn out average but that being said, it doesn't mean you should not put a 100% into your craft, some years ago I watched when Rihanna was asked about how she made that her famous track "Bitch better have my money" don't know if you are familiar with the song, she said she wasn't even the one that came up with the idea of the song, that she and her friends were just chilling in the studio when one of her friends jokingly said somethings about being a bitch and they all vibe to it by making it a song but it was just like a play thing until she got some inspiration from the vibe they were catching and that's how she came up with the song so in essence what am trying to say is Melody can be gotten from any instrument and not only guitar and piano even though I know they're one of the core basic instruments when it comes to music creation.

I believe your talent, connections and grace from God can take you anywhere in life you wanna be, even me wey dey like this I'm looking to open my record label someday, still grinding for the moolah for that project, I might just be the next big thing like Don jazzy them by God's grace.

As a business man I will tell you this for free, Note that as an artist you are as good as the love and dedication showered on you by your benefactors or crew, you fit get all the talents in the world but if your connect no like you or doesn't want to work with you, you are similar to someone who doesn't posess any talents.
