Atiku Abubakar finally picks a running mate- Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa. Surely didn’t see this coming, my guess was Gov. Emmanuel Udom from the list the screening committee shared. To my mind, a Wike would have pulled more weight but what do I know?

Well, I think Atiku didn’t pick Gov. Nyesom Wike probably because as a hot head, he’ll be too hot to handle as Vice President. I hope he doesn’t withdraw his support from PDP because he has suffered the biggest bruises- lost the Presidential ticket to Atiku Abubakar and now losing the VP slot to Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa. Maybe post-election appointments would pacify him should PDP win the presidential elections.

Let’s see the card APC will play & hope for a Labor Party and NNPP merger.

Challenging times for H.E Nyesom Wike, but no doubt, he has proved his capacity and zeal to perform better that his counterparts.
Atiku not choosing him as a running mate is [I believe] due to his exuberant nature. He is a courageous man that wouldn't hesitate to step on toes to achieve what he wants. And as we know, politics is a game where compromises has to be made if anything worthwhile is to be achieved.

Wike has sealed his fate by saying that he would not leave the party for any reason whatsoever: and as a man of his word, he has been boxed to the corner by that his statement. The fear amongst PDP stalwarts afore was Wike leaving the party if he doesn't get the presidential bid considering the resources he can mobilize from his state, and also the support from the Southern block.

Nevertheless, it doesn't take away from the fact that Wike has done well for himself.

I sincerely hope for an Obi/Kwakwanso ticket too. That's be a formidable force. If they go alone, neither of them would emerge.
As for the APC, I wish them well.

Wike is a loose canon, you don't want such a person as a VP with you while running campaigns, he's a tough cookie but you need a calm head to navigate the muddy waters of politics and Okowa can bring that for Atiku.
